Worth $11,357, city police say

Police allege a 43-year-old man stole 339 pornographic DVDs worth $11,357 from an adult bookstore in Lancaster city.
Police, using surveillance video from two neighboring businesses as well as Lancaster Community Safety Coalition cameras, identified Jaye Ashby Gibson, address unknown, as the suspect, city police Lt. Todd Umstead said Thursday.
The burglary occurred the morning of May 23 at Downtown Books, 227 N. Prince St., he said. Police responded after getting a call from an alarm company.
Entry to the building was made at a southside entrance door, but there were no signs it was a forced entry, Umstead said.
Surveillance video shows Gibson walking toward the bookstore empty-handed and then leaving the area with the loot, Umstead said.
A warrant was issued for Gibson's arrest and he was taken into custody Tuesday at a city coffee shop, Umstead said. He was charged with burglary and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

LOL...so, the police really *do* hang out at places that sell donuts!
This reminds me of a story that a dude told me while we were both waiting in line for our cars to be dried off at a car wash. We both had the same model car (his was a lot older than mine), and his had just been stolen the night before from out in front of his house. The dude called the police right away, gave them a description of the car with the licence plate number, and the police put out the info over their radio system. Two cops were sitting in a nearby Dunkin' Donuts parking lot (right down the street from where the theft occurred), heard the car's description, saw the car parked in the same parking lot, then went inside the shop. They asked out loud to the entire store about the car in the parking lot, and the guy that had just stole it said, "That's my car!" The dude got his car back in less than an hour's time. The suspect was from Boston, and he didn't seem to be in any hurry to leave the area after stealing the car from the Providence area.
arbeeguy, I know what type of street vendors you are talking about. I have bought from them when I was in NYC/China Town I think? and the DVD quality looked as if someone brought in a webcam into the theater and recorded the movie and burned in on DVD.
