Deputy arrested outside strip club

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Bachelor-party incident leads to multiple charges
Friday, March 26, 2010

A Franklin County deputy remains on duty after being shocked with a Taser and arrested at a Mahoning County strip club this month.

Keith M. Miller, 28, of 8601 Gold Leaf Lane in Dublin, was charged with a felony count of assaulting a police officer and one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and criminal trespass.

Miller was arrested about 3 a.m. March 14 during his bachelor party in the parking lot of Babylon - the Ultimate Gentlemen's Club in Austintown.

According to an Austintown Township police report, a dancer said that Miller flashed his badge and "told me I should do more for him since he was a cop." When the dancer would not let Miller "do (a) sexual act to her," Miller grabbed money from her, another witness said.

Two male employees of the club wrestled Miller out the front door and he threatened to kill them, according to the report. When two police officers arrived, they saw Miller arguing with the men.

Miller would not provide identification to one of the officers, who told him to leave or he would be charged with criminal trespass. But Miller said he wouldn't leave until the officers did.

The officer then tried to escort Miller to his vehicle, and Miller struck the officer's right hand, the report says. Both officers tried to grab Miller, and he punched one of them in the right forearm. The officer who had been hit shocked Miller with a Taser and handcuffed him.

Miller was released on bond of $5,150 on March 15 and is due back in Mahoning County for a hearing on April 5, according to court records.

Franklin County Sheriff Jim Karnes said Miller, who is to be married next month, is assigned to the Franklin County jail and has not been disciplined.

A union contract prevents discipline until Miller has had an administrative hearing, said Jim Gilbert, president of Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge No. 9. The union provides representation in an administrative hearing but not in a criminal case, Gilbert said.

Miller could not be reached for comment.

At the very best, he'll work the jail forever-never make it to the streets. He might as well start looking elsewhere for employment-the dumb ass.

What I would like to know, was the money that he grabbed his that he gave to the stripper for the dances? or was he just being gangster and going to take what he wanted because he was pissed?
