Being well fed for an evening out gets things off to a good start, IMO. That said, I've been making good use of Restaurant.com be it at home or on the road. Searchable by zip code, one can buy certifcates for use by credit card and print them out immediately. If you sign up to receive their sale info by e-mail, you will be informed of when they have 60%, 70%, and 80% off sales. This can reduce the price for a $25 certificate to as little as $2. What's the catch? Often one can only use the certificate provided the total bill breaks $35 or $50. That means a pretty good-sized meal & the satisfaction of knowing the final tally will be cut by $25. Just make sure you present the certificate to your server prior to ordering. Enjoy!

Okay, since I've been to the Acropolis in Portland I suppose I should've thought there's some pretty good deals/food at some of them. My point though was to highlight a money-saving site which has many participants per zip code (well, in a major metro area). Give it a try, for if you get in on a sale (submit your e-mail address to be informed of special offers) you could potentially pay as little as $2 for a $25 certificate you can print on your pc and use instantaneously.

I use my GPS to find restaurants in my area or if I know the one I want to just get directions for it.

In the Detroit area all the high end clubs pay big money to employ a top chef and have full menus better than most restaurants. Most of the rest serve excellent bar type food. Its usually cheaper and you get better food in the strip club than you do in restaurants.

I myself have bought certificates on restaurant.com but I have yet to use them! Also the site sells out pretty fast so it it best to check at the start of the month.

However, don't u think if you took a dancer or girl out for dinner some of them would think you are a cheap ass for using coupons/certificates?

I could suggest to my favorite restaurant/strip club, Kahoot's, that they should start to advertise and provide certificates via restaurant.com lol. I surely would buy them!

Good suggestion for the club, samsung. The nice thing about Restaurant.com is you can buy, print and then use the same day/evening. I did just this past Wednesday on my visit to Silk in Milwaukee. Had dinner at an Irish pub prior to and got stuffed on $35. Needless-to-say, I had to decline the first few lapdance offers from gals because I was just too full. And they had 80 gals working the VIP night.

I used to use my GPS to recommend restaurants but so many places have gone out of business in Columbus, OH, that it is difficult to know which ones are still in business. I once punched in Hooter's and it took me, but it was out of business/closed.

Sorry to hear that. I will say that since I submitted my e-mail address to Restaurant.com (to be informed of sales), they e-mail an alert when a place you bought a certificate from folds or no longer participates. The same alert gives you a credit to buy a new certificate for another restaurant from their site. I did just that.

Small businesses are getting hit hard. Fyi, if you have friends/relatives who own a struggling small business, you can direct them to the U.S. government's Small Business Administration website to apply for an emergency $35k loan. I just read about it today. Not my place of employment or area of expertise.
