Strip Clubs in Japan

Actually Strip clubs in Japan is called Strip theater, rather than strip club. There are many other types of adult entertainment in Japan, however, today I will write about Strip theaters in Japan, especially in Tokyo.
Not like clubs in United States, the theaters in Japan have quite expensive cover charge. Usually it is 5000 yen. (I heard that the price is usually 3000 yen in Osaka.) Also, you should understand Japanese are not used to accept card in most of their places. So I recommend you to take enough cash when you enter the strip theaters in Japan. One good thing to know is that most of clubs offer discounts such as early entrance, student discount or senior discount. If you have any items to prove that, they will be welcome to give you some discounts.
Usually there are 5 dancers in the theater and they shows dances in the stage. Since this is a theater, the audience are sitting in the chairs. Usually the good seats are occupied by the old Japanese seniors. There are usually 4 to 5 sessions for each of the dancers. If you see all the 5 performances from the individual dancers, there would be a break time and then the next sessions will begin. (Of course, there is a break time between each sessions.) If you pay for the entrance fee, the theater will not charge you even if you stay there after end of the session. In fact, you can enter there when it opens and stay there until end of the whole 4 or 5 sessions. One bad news is that the most of the old Japanese seniors does not leave because of this rule. They keep occupy good seats and never leave.
It is well known that some of the dancers in the theater are from Japanese AV. In most small theater (such as Theater Ueno), even though she was actual actress in the JAV, she would not be really famous one. However, some big theater like Asakusa Rockza, famous actress like Uehara Ai or Ozawa Maria sometimes show their show in the theater. (Of course, that was years ago. Since they are already retired, it would be difficult to expect them to return to the theater.) You can still buy the pamphlets with their pictures when you visit Asakusa Rockza.
Most small theaters offer the audience to take picture with the dancers during the breaktime. The price is 500 yen each. You can only use the old digital camera owned by the theater and you get only 1 copy. There are also 2 sessions for this. First is pictures with clothes on and then she will be totally naked and take the second session for the picture. You can ask her for the specific pose and also you can lend the camera to other audience ask him to take picture with you and the dancer.
According to an article which I read few years ago, the reason why they offer this kind of show is because of supply and demand. If you actually visit small theater like theater Ueno, you will understand what this means. If you actually enter the studio, first you will be surprised that the studio has not many seats. Then you will be surprised that 90% of the audience are the old Japanese seniors. They get the senior discount like 3000yen and Half of them stay until the end of 4 sessions. I mean, this is Tokyo! Although this place is in the basement floor, there would be no way the owner of the theater would pay the rent and guarantee for the dancers if they act like this. So they are giving dancers money from the personal photo time. Also, if you are familiar with Japanese cultures, you will know that there are not many places that the old seniors in Tokyo could go. So, they are willing to be the fan of the dancers (They treat dancers as idols!) and pay additional for their services. This makes win-win relationship between audiences, dancers and manager of the theater. If you are visiting Japanese strip theaters, please respect this kind of relationship.
