On drunks and ROBs

Sunday, February 4, 2018 12:00 AM
I know that there was a previous discussion recently about alcohol and nudity, but i thought that this might work better as an article as there's a story involved. Now there is probably nothing worse, at least as far as the usual things go (obviously there are worse and worst case scenarios), than being ROBed and being ROBed big at a strip club. It can really sour your experience at that strip club and strip clubs in general.

I have a PL friend that likes a high end non extras club. It's the same club that was described in my last article about the baby PLs. He knows that it's not an extras club. In fact that day he had not planned on even visiting a strip club, but he was with a group of friends at Hooters and they were drinking it up for hours and getting worked up by the girls there and decided to go to the strip club.

So they go to the strip club already pretty wasted and immediately start drinking some more as the waitresses there don't give a shit how shitfaced you already are. It's all about the hustle and getting as much money as they can. Shortly afterward, a girl approached the group trying to hustle a room. Rooms are the biggest wastes of money at that club and the easiest way for the girls to make ridiculous money. Now my friend didn't bite this time, but one of his drunk buddies did and bought a 15 minute CR for $250. When he came back, he basically told the group that all he got was some mediocre dances, along with some cheap but overpriced champagne, for his money.

So then a ROB approaches my friend and asks him to do a room. He's already drunk but asks if he can fuck. The ROB lies and tells him he can do everything, fucking, BJ, you name it. My friend, even after hearing about the previous unfavorable experience his friend had just shared with the group, believes what he wants to believe and decides to go back. Once they go back there, he whips it out and the ROB calls a bouncer and he (and logically the group) gets kicked out after collectively wasting over $1000.

I don't know if he's banned (temporarily or whatever) or not. I don't think he should be as he and his friends already gave that club a ridiculous amount of money for basically nothing just that night and from many nights past. But he's probably in no rush to go there again anytime soon.

So what is the takeaway from all this? Don't go to a strip club already drunk. If i was there, being the non-drinker that i am, there would have been no CRs bought by the group to the chagrin of the ROBs. Someone has to watch out for group. You're just more likely to get taken advantage of as well as cause more trouble than you would normally. Before they were kicked out, they were taking pictures and nearly got kicked out. In hindsight, it would have been better and less wasteful to have gotten kicked out for that.

The last important point is to always remember that no one at the club has your back in situations like this no matter how "loyal" you've been to the club or how much money you've spent there over the years. Not ownership, not management, not a bouncer or floor host, and definitely not a dancer (ROB) or waitress. So in the end, you always have to look out for yourself first in the cruel world of strip clubs, and you don't owe anyone a damn thing because when the shit hits the fan, they're not going to remember or care about anything you did for the place.

Wow. Did he give you the bitch's name? Did he give her any more money or grease the bouncer/vip host? What club was this?

He was probably too drunk to remember any names. It was PoleKatz in Bridgeview, IL so no greasing bouncers necessary.

LMAO. Classic. He knew it was a non-extras club and probably also knew that he was a lightweight, but he chose to get hammered and then chose to go back for $1k when he should have known better. I call this tuition.

    How old are these guys?

The friend is in his 30s. So a bit younger. I don't know his other friends. Probably a similar age demographic. I wouldn't call him a lightweight, but there really is no need to start your drinking or pregame, if you will, before you go to a club. That is you shouldn't treat a strip club like the last stop of a bar hop.

Wow, good advice. Don’t go when you are drunk.

Perhaps we could give him a new acronym: LWPL. I know you want very much to turn this into some PSA about drinking and clubbing, but my takeaway is very different. Dipshits with self control issues should probably avoid both alcohol and clubbing. Alcohol doesn't make someone different, but rather just exacerbates existing personality issues. There were, to be sure, plenty of other guys in that club who were well into their cups but didn't take a ROB back for $1,000, yet he did. Now I place maybe 20% of the blame on the combination of a ROB and alcohol, but I also lay the other 80% firmly at his feet, especially since he knew the club and should have known better.

Caveat emptor and lesson learned. If he's lucky, that will be the biggest tuition payment he ever makes in a club. I suspect, however, that this goofball might have a few more good tuition payments left in him. ;)

I agree with your discussion. It’s stupid to get drunk at a strip club. I’d say your friend was lucky to have buddies there. They all got tossed. But being alone and drunk, can get horny dudes into even more trouble. I speak from experience - or should I say experiences...

Hopefully all of those guys will learn from the experience. A few drinks are fine. Being Drunk enough for a ROB to spot you - is very dangerous.

I think they learned. A strip club is not a place to go already impaired. Your inhibitions are less and you lack your best judgement. That ROB probably wouldn't have even looked attractive enough to get a dance with let alone an overpriced room even slightly sober/buzzed or better yet with all your faculties.

Dirk, you know that if you kill somebody while "impaired" that you can still be prosecuted for murder, right? I think your ingrained bias against alcohol is leading you to draw the wrong takeaway from this. Like it or not, with the exception of those creepy nude juice bars, all too often filled with weirdly intense and quiet amateur gynecologists, most clubs are filled with guys who enjoy the combination of cocktails and naked flesh. It's just fun for some of us. Also, these same clubs. at least at night, are often full of guys who are in various stages of impairment, yet I am sure that many of them easily avoided the trap that your buddy walked into. Booze doesn't make you act stupid - being stupid makes you act stupid.

Since it is highly unlikely that your buddy is going to stop drinking when he clubs, the more practical "takeaway" from this is for him to learn his alcohol limits and to develop standard rules of behavior ITC that can be easily remembered after round number x. Again, standard self control mechanisms. I drink when I club, more heavily when I am in road clubs using taxis, and you will never read a story like this from me because I will never be in his situation. Same with many other folks around here, like subraman (who is doing shots with his favorites) and others I'm sure.

Nowhere did i absolve the friend of any responsibility. What he does is what he does impaired or not. The next time he likely won't go impaired or as impaired. On the other hand try sleeping with a chick that is drunk and if she claims rape the next day, guess what? Even if she can't prove rape, but can prove that she was drunk, you're likely to get locked up. Because legally you cannot give consent (to sex or signing contracts or whatever) while drunk. I don't know why you're absolving the ROB of all responsibility (on a site that generally hates ROBs) or actually as you said only 20% responsibility. As if getting cheated out of one's money is the victim's fault or mostly his fault. The waitress and later the VIP waitress as well technically broke the law by serving alcohol to an obviously intoxicated person.

And i said he likely learned a lesson or two out of all of this. I don't think he's going to go to Hooters for lunch and drink till night time with buddies and then brilliantly hit a strip club right after that to drink even more and likely get taken advantage of. Was it just coincidence that as soon as they sat down, the strippers tried to sell rooms? The first stripper wasn't a true ROB as she didn't promise anything and then not deliver. But she was easily able to sell a room with little negotiation or persuading at a place that generally doesn't sell them (as almost everyone that has done them usually doesn't find them worth it) except to whales (like the one that spend something like $1600 in two hours in a recent review/discussion of the same club), newbies and wait for it, drunks. They literally drank the entire day. Anyone with half a brain could realize they were too fucked up to be hitting a strip club. But apparently some people are immune to that. To each their own.

Dirk, you've been watching too much Law and Order SVU or perhaps are spending too much time on college campuses. The law in most states only makes it non-consensual if she was passed out or in close to pass-out condition (vomiting with blackouts). If the laws on consent were as tight as you believe, almost each and every one of us who fucks strippers could be accused of rape at any time because almost all of them are on something, whether it's alcohol or some other intoxicant.
