I do think the idea that being in love will cause you to lose attraction to other girls is silly. Doesn't mean love is artificial though.

    Corona virus
@Meat72 That's absolutely not true. The hospitalization rate for coronavirus is 100x higher than flu and the death rate is between 10-80 times higher. I keep asking you guys, why the hell do you think China would freak out so much over a flu? People were barred into their apartments, trucks sweeped the streets disinfecting everything. The government has threatened to execute anybody who has symptoms of the virus and doesn't come forward. Crematoriums in Wuhan from January 22nd to February 23rd were receiving so many bodies that they've been working 24/7 for an entire month. Estimates are finally coming in saying the true death toll in Wuhan is likely around 60,000 people. People on China's Weibo website cannot believe how careless the rest of the world is being right now and are criticizing us for "ostrich policies." And its not like the Chinese governments' first instinct was to overreact either. Many people in China are infuriated by their government's initial reaction to the virus as many local officials tried to cover it up and arrested anybody who talked about it. China lured themselves into a false sense of security for almost two months and now they are desperately trying to correct their mistake. The scariest part though is that we are probably going to get more fucked by the virus than China did. We have no testing capabilities and no plan for how to deal with this outbreak. It has been festering in the country for weeks and we have no idea all the places it might've been. Plus I guarantee you the number of Americans who are going to do stupid shit like break quarantines or walk around without any protection is a lot higher than in China. Especially given the number of Americans right now who are not taking this virus seriously. Instead of pursuing the South Korea strategy, our government apparently wants to pursue the Iran and China strategy. I'm the one who has actually kept himself informed about this virus, checking on it daily often for multiple hours a day. So you can either make fun of me for having the time to do so or you can listen to me and understand that I've done 100x more research than you have and have a much better understanding of how dangerous it is.

Do the idiots here saying its like the seasonal flu or it will never reach the US believe me now? There were 4 deaths today in the US bringing our total to six. That's higher than all the other countries of Europe excluding Italy. Experts have been saying that the virus has been spreading for approximately six weeks and there are likely thousands of undetected cases right now. Despite this, they haven't even closed all the schools in Washington which is looking to be the epicenter in the US. We are in the midst of an outbreak at this current moment but people are not aware of it because the CDC has only conducted approximately 472 tests because it gives them a false sense of security to not confirm what's happening. The only reason why Europe looks worse right now is because they are on top of it instead of burying their heads in the sand and pretending its not here, the UK has conducted 13,525 tests, Switzerland has conducted 1,850, Austria has conducted 2,120, a week ago when the outbreak had not happened yet, France had tested 762 people, and South Korea has conducted an astonishing 109,591 tests. I don't know about y'all, but I have enough supplies for three weeks the moment the government starts announcing lockdowns and quarantines. I've started wearing gloves in public and carrying hand sanitizer around with me. I am trying to avoid spending time in public as much as possible.

@CJKent I can believe that the normalization or expectation of romantic love is socially constructed. However, I wouldn't say the feeling itself is. I'm sure that there's been times before the high middle ages when people "fell in love" but that the people around them simply thought of these individuals as obsessive and lustful. A Roman senator sometime around the era of Julius Caesar was fired from his job after he was seen kissing his wife in public. The idea behind this was essentially that a man who is "in love" with his wife was unfit to be in a position of power as they thought being obsessed with your wife was the equivalent of losing control over her. It appears by the Shakespearean era, love had become a very normal part of social relationships however. The enlightenment era of the 18th century might have caused some people to look at it again with more of a rationalist perspective but I think that would've turned around again during the Romanticism of the 19th century. I'd actually argue we are in the midst of a "cultural de-emphasis" of love at this current moment. Lots of people these days are advocating that we should be putting work and career above love and marriage, and others are claiming that love and marriage is socially restrictive. I do not see these changes as being good in the long run for people's quality of life. I think it is likely a major factor in what is causing the current sexual recession.

“Sex without love is as hollow and ridiculous as love without sex.” ~Hunter S. T
I'd say sex without love is 2x better than masturbation whereas sex with love is probably 10-20x better. Then again, I don't really know what's going on in the heads of other guys so I can't really quantify it very well. A lot of guys I know don't feel any difference between casual sex and masturbation. Other guys don't seem to feel much difference between relational sex and casual sex. For women, it might be 40x better. I have a theory that men usually are less sensitive to the effects of oxytocin. Oxytocin increases the pleasure of sex dramatically which is why so many women only start behaving like sex addicts once they are in love, but men are more likely to be addicted to sex as a general matter regardless of emotions or feelings. Once they are in love though, women may be even more sensitive to sexual pleasure than men are.

The problem with all these articles is that they are giving mortality numbers based on "how many cases are there and how many people died." If you want to understand mortality in diseases, you need to look at the closed cases. How many people have actually gotten the disease and recovered from it vs how many died. Looking at the numbers in Wuhan vs the rest of China. What it looks like is that, with proper medical treatment and a hospital system that is not overwhelmed (the rest of China), you will have a 1% mortality rate. When hospitals are overwhelmed however and lots of people who should be getting treatment aren't, you have more like an 8% mortality rate. In Iran, where the medical infrastructure isn't that good to begin with, we may be seeing an even worse mortality rate, but hopefully that won't happen in the US even in the event of an outbreak. The worse case scenario is every city turning into Wuhan but I think we'd be able to contain it better than that. How much damage this virus causes will depend very heavily on how prepared our hospitals are to deal with a wave of serious cases. COVID 19 causes hospitalizations at 100 times the rate the seasonal flu does. What will really give us accurate information though is South Korea. South Korea is administering thousands of tests every day, through drive through locations. They are testing everybody, even the asymptomatic. We haven't had enough time yet to see large numbers of recovered cases though, so data there is a bit inconclusive. But they are giving us much more reliable numbers than anybody else is.

Love is a combination of sexual attraction + strong bursts of oxytocin. Both are very powerful forces and create of quagmire of intense feelings. So its not an artificial concept. The word "love" is just the manifestation of those feelings. I guarantee you it existed before a word/term was made for it though.

I live in an apartment with three other guys, another friend of ours visits every weekend Friday through Sunday (sometimes staying Monday). We are all 6+ in looks, not a single one of us has had sex with a human girl since the school year began (six months approximately). I run a server with 6 guys including myself. Only one of them has had sex. One guy is 25 years old and a virgin. Out of all the guys I have regular contact with, in the past six months, only 2 out of 12 have had sex. At least its better than people fucking for the sole purpose of social status though. I want a sexually charged environment but only if its for the sake of sex itself and not something that gets turned into a competition.

They're not victims, prostitution is generally an okay job. Its got a lot of perks to it that other jobs don't. Yeah I would hate prison. Thing is, I don't think I've seen a prostitute in over a year now. My money is better spent on waifu dolls than getting charged $400 just for an hour of sex. But I like the atmosphere that a country has when the sex industry is bigger. I like the idea that people around me are fucking too. And maybe if the prices got lower I'd go to a brothel every now and then too. I'd have to get my doll first but why not?

What I'm trying to point out is that slums in Bucharest are a small portion of the city. Whereas in Karachi, slums are more like half the city. At the very least, the slums are big enough that they bleed through the city.

It ain't the political right. The left is probably worse because they oppose anything that sexualizes women and dislike women being feminine and attractive. They want a gender neutral/fluid world. Right wing countries such as Greece, Italy, Spain, Eastern Europe, and East Asia seem to have a lot more prostitution than ultra-liberal countries like Iceland and Sweden do. The only exceptions really being Germany and the Netherlands.

@SJG That's what I thought before about some of the women advertising on sites like Escort Directory. How the hell do they get any business? You are right, I can't take them seriously as hookers and I especially cannot take their requests for $200 an hour seriously. Some of them are bad enough I'd pay them not to fuck me.

@CJKent That's still a person. I can't buy a person. @SJG I want to squeeze a girl's thighs and make out with her. My hand can't give me that. They are very expensive because they are made out of sophisticated material to feel and look extremely similar to an actual human being. The exact squishiness and texture of human skin is replicated. This isn't like some cheap blowup doll.

Yes it was 1918, so the impact of it will hopefully not be anywhere near as bad because of us having better containment measures, better health, better nutrition and living conditions, as well as a significantly more sophisticated medical infrastructure. I'm not saying a COVID 19 pandemic will be as bad as the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic. What I'm saying is that the characteristics of the virus itself are at least as bad if not worse than the Spanish Flu. If COVID 19 had cropped up in 1918, it probably would've infected and killed more people than the Spanish Flu did. The Spanish flu killed more young people because people didn't really live very long past the age of 60 in 1918 anyway due to very poor comparative health. The health of a 25 or 35 year old in 1918 was much more similar to the health of someone at least two decades older for a developed country in 2020. A lot of young people died from various diseases back then. But if COVID 19 hits countries like India or Pakistan. You'd probably see the impact being very similar to the 1918 flu because their medical infrastructure and living conditions are very poor by comparison. I already suspect that Iran is going to have a much rougher time with the virus than China did. I saw a video of a medical worker in Iran saying that several people in their 20s and 30s died just on his shift the night before and many Iranians, including their own local officials have accused the government is covering up the impact of the virus in order to save face.

Its not the black plague, but it is a lot like the Spanish Flu. In-fact, its quite a bit worse because of its extremely high level of contagiousness. Stock up on food and water so that you have enough for two weeks without leaving the house. Make sure to read up on how the virus spreads. It can spread very easily. There is a lot of airborne transmission and people can transmit the disease to you even if they display no symptoms. Stock up on Clorox wipes, hand sanitizers with 70% alcohol content or higher, gloves, and soap. Make sure to follow government actions taken to limit the spread. If they tell us to stay in our homes for weeks at a time and not leave, we have to do it.

Eastern Europe really isn't that poor anymore. People hear "Romanian prostitutes" and their image of it is still stuck in the Cold War era but Romania is listed as having a "very high human development index" and is ranked number 10 in the European union for Purchasing power per person. The price of living in Eastern Europe is very low compared to Western Europe, so even though they technically don't make as much cash, they don't have to spend nearly as much to live there comfortably. The Czech Republic meanwhile has one of the highest human development scores in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Romania

I truly think that when it comes to prostitution. The US is one of the worst countries you can be in. It goes beyond being illegal (and actually being enforced), its also the fact that the standard for looks is much lower than it is in the rest of the world and the prices are outrageously high for everything. I mean, it just stuns me what we can get used to. I would be charged $615 just for an hour long lap dance at my local strip club while in East Asia, for the same amount of time, a much wider range of quality selection, and higher levels of contact, I could be tonguing hotties for $70. Its truly mind boggling how much of a better deal that is.
