Of course Dems run on the dangers of electing the other party too. But nobody whips their base into a state of doom and gloom and false reality better than Republicans and Faux News. Have to give credit where credit is due.
The biggest threat to democracy in this country right now are the pro-Trump election deniers that could potentially support his re-election in two years. This is a demonstrable fact.

I've noticed pretty much the same right wing playbook each election cycle, especially when Republicans are trying to regain power.
The right wing media and politicians run a constant narrative of "the country is in great danger and this is the most important election of our lifetime." The same or similar stories are repeated over and over and over, creating a distorted image in the minds of their followers. Many of these people don't even realize their perception is being manipulated. Of course, most people will bristle at the idea that they are being manipulated and aren't thinking independently. But if they would unplug from the right wing machine for awhile, they might notice the effect.
There are a couple of posters right here on TUSCL that could be the poster child for how well the right wing machine is doing it's job.

It's too early to write off Fetterman. He is recovering, his speech may improve, and his intelligence and cognitive abilities are what matter most. He's not the smooth-talking politician we are used to, but that doesn't mean he won't be able to make good decisions aligned with the interests of Pennsylvanians.

Check this out - a group called "Real Doctors Against Oz" is tweeting against him
REAL doctors don’t condescendingly mock patients who are recovering from a stroke. Here’s the truth: In January, John is going to be a lot better – but Dr. Oz will still be a fraud. #RealDoctorsAgainstOz

I'm not a big supporter of Fetterman personally and his stroke last May was unfortunate. From what I've seen though, I think on character he wins. Dr. Oz is a celebrity surgeon who promoted dietary supplements and weight loss products. He seems a bit like Trump, wanting to vault his celebrity status and following to the next level.

It must suck to have to depend on lies and insults, but at least it helps some Republicans bond with each other. Without that shared camaraderie and peer-reinforcement, it would be harder for them to look in the mirror and not be ashamed.

Here is a quote from the last article you linked:
“John is an outspoken advocate for weed legalization and has always believed we should not be criminalizing addiction,” his spokesperson Joe Calvello said. “We need to make sure that we are locking up drug dealers who are pushing and profiting from hard drugs, while making sure that people get real help if they are addicted. But let’s be clear, John does not support decriminalizing all drugs including heroin, methamphetamines, and other hard drugs.”

I listened to an interview with Oz yesterday on Fox News, he was saying that Fetterman wants to legalize all drugs, even heroin. This seemed pretty radical to me, and coming from a Republican politician on Fox News, it sounded dubious. Low and behold, when I did a search on it, it turned out to be a lie.

>Kind of funny that while 9/11 was planned under Clinton and was originally planned for April and not September that the Democrats accepted no blame and blamed Bush 100% because it happened on his watch.
Where did you read that? I certainly never blamed Bush for 9/11. That's even more ridiculous than blaming Biden for today's inflation.

Not saying the US government has not been a factor, not at all. But sticking it 100% on Joe Biden and Democratic policies is nonsense.
Unfortunately, all too often Repubs keep resorting to deception and insults. Maybe following the example of their leader, Donald Trump?

Inflation is a global phenomenon. Repubs WANT to stick it all on Biden for political reasons, but that doesn't make it true.
It is by and large an outcome of COVID. Governments stepped in to stimulate economies to avoid a great depression, and there were major disruptions in labor markets and supply chains.
Add it all together: more demand chasing less supply

The problem with the NY Post is not that it is conservative, it's that it is complete tabloid trash, the worst of the worst, peddling to base instincts, gossip and slander. I used to read it regularly decades ago, until I slowly but surely got disgusted with it and couldn't touch it anymore.

>Control crime. Seal the border. Cut spending. Reform the Fed. Clean house at the FBI and CIA.Bring manufacturing back to the US.
Lots of feel-good stuff there. But no need for cleaning house at FBI/CIA, they are doing legitimate work investigating criminal activity. How will Repubs seal the border and cut spending ? How to keep growing US manufacturing when there aren't enough workers for the jobs open today?

I see Republicans name calling, and talking slogans and "feel-good" themes again (in addition to endlessly blaming Biden and Dems for everything).
We have a strong jobs market and inflation will be coming under more control regardless of who is in government. Immigration concerns seem overblown into another political stunt by Republicans, as usual when they are not in power. Nobody is mandating anyone to buy electric cars right now. Voters motivated by issues like addressing economic inequality, clean energy and abortion will be likely to vote Dem, we'll see if that can overcome the usual wave of negative emotion that Repubs effectively drum up every election cycle.

The truth hurts, but if you accept it, it will set you free
Even without all the incriminating January 6 evidence, and the illegal retention of government documents after he left office, Trump asking for donations to his PAC while Hurricane Ian ravaged Florida really takes the cake.

Cashman, if there is no better and affordable solution to gas burning vehicles, why are sales of hybrid and electric cars surging?
Your premise seems to be we can't fully transition immediately. Well of course we can't... that's not news. Nobody is trying to get out of fossil fuels immediately. But Americans are gravitating to increasingly green solutions, for their cars and homes. This is a gradual transition. Biden's actions are making this transition increasingly cost effective. California is one state leading the way. I think it's too early to say if they are being too aggressive with their targets. If they are they will be forced to adjust.
I'm not a green lover myself. A green supporter, possibly. I have a traditional gas vehicle (2022, German sports model which I'm lovin) and no solar panels (yet). But the writing is on the wall. We must continue transitioning to less dependence on fossil fuels.

Tetradon there was no ad hominem against you personally, please check the definition. And you are talking about manners while telling people to "shut their pie hole"? Good one. If you were honest with yourself, you would admit that Committee to Unleash Prosperity article you posted was a biased article from conservative activists, with glaring omissions. Kind of throwing spaghetti on the wall, as you say.
>The least you could do is own the consequences of your actions. You are either promoting energy development or impeding it. You can't have it both ways.
We will do so gladly, but your proposition is simplistic. Biden's actions have had a minor impact on impeding fossil fuel energy development, and (will have) a major impact on advancing green energy development. Overall a net move in the right direction.
