According to this ClickOnDetroit article there was another fatal shooting the day before that involved a gentleman's club. This was about three miles from Pretty Woman.

DETROIT -- Detroit police said a man was killed early Thursday morning in a shooting on the city's east side.
Police said the shooting happened at the corner of Hildae Street and Joseph Campau Street.
Sources told Local 4 that the shooting may have occurred after a verbal argument down at a gentleman's club nearby.

At one time in Detroit, some dancers doing this told me they were freelancers? They must have wanted to give the impression they were independent in some sense.

La Shish is next to the Pantheon on Michigan Ave. The parking lot is behind the club and La Shish. Was he at Pantheon instead of Penthouse?

As Feelmore said feature strippers from Covington traveled to other areas in the late 70's. I've seen them at the Club Manchester in the Detroit area. Was told that the Covington area was known for their card games for those crossing from Ohio.
In what may have been a sign of the times the Beverly Hills Super Club in nearby Southgate, Kentucky, was a major attraction, drawing headline talent from Las Vegas, Hollywood, and New York. A fire at the Beverly Hills Supper Club in 1977 was the third deadliest nightclub fire in U.S. history.
