I think the talent level, just in terms of looks, is pretty constant, but the level of interest in the client has dropped off. In my heyday of clubbing, the early 1990's, I judged who I would spend time and money with on the basis if who really seemed interested in my entertainment. Today there are a few who still take that attitude but the approach, "Here's the menu and the price list, take it or leave it," is much more common.

I think TUSCL_Brother has the right idea. As one who is not exactly a matinee idol but tries to be presentable in appearance, I feel more comfortable with a woman who is attractive without approaching perfection. There is an occasional "9" who ranks high in personality too, but send me to the back room with a hot "7" and I'll be happy.

Like many former teachers, the first time I met a former student taking it off on stage at a club in a nearby city, I was a bit embarrassed, but nothing like she was. Timidly she asked. "Didn't you used to be Mr.R?" I answered, "I still am."

I live 200 miles from the Sundowner, 1,200 miles from Mons, but I'd take the airfare to Florida out of the $1,000 budget & get a cheap flight to Tampa. Sundowner is a good club but Mons is the gold standard.
About 1994 I actually flew from Baltimore to Tampa on Saturday afternoon, caught a hotel shuttle bus to within a block of Mons, hiked to the club, stayed there all night, then did the trip in reverse in the morning. Other than breakfast at the Denny's on Dale Mabry, I didn't spend a nickel outside the club.
Ah, the good old days.

My lapdance notebook, kept since 1993, shows 8 dances as my record at one sitting. Most recent of those was at the sorely-missed Club Peek-A-Boo in West Palm Beach in 2004 with a remarkably beautiful and conversational black woman named Vanity. I've done more in one evening with one dancer, but only by calling time out.

I didn't know that fact about the spaceship. I remember ten dollars cover and BBBJ on the stairs, circa 1991. That's enough to make it a piece of history in my book.

My first high mileage dances were in the Waldorf, Maryland clubs of the mid-1980's. The Waldorf clubs on Route 301 - Reb's Fireplace and the Oak Tree - were a legacy of Charles County's wide-open past with slot machines, etc. All are gone now under D.C. sprawl. The action was in the open: grab their ass, get tits in the face, maybe a short grind for $5.
The Tampa scene of the late-80's moved things to the next level for me. Nude rather than topless, prolonged grinding and nipple sucking for $20, maybe some hand-in-pants if you wore loose shorts, but still quite open at the Tanga and Mons Venus. Oddly, I kind of liked it that way which makes Mons an enduring favorite today.
The first semi-private situation I encountered was the spaceship at 2001 Odyssey, across the street from MV. Additional cover was $10 plus a tip to the (female) bartender. Lots of hand action and occasional DATY. The hot ticket was a BBBJ on the stairway back to the main club.
While I concentrate on N.J. clubs today with occasional Florida visits, I know several cities where private VIP dances have arrived at long-established clubs since the mid-90's, including Indy, Charlotte, and Niagara Falls, Canada.

Two round-number milestones arrive in 2009 - age 60 and 25 years of clubtreking. As the song says, "I'm not as good as I once was, but just once I'm as good as I ever was."

Another club of the past to add to Danny's, Tanga, and House of Babes I mentioned in my first post - the Peek-a-Boo on Lake Worth Road in West Palm Beach.
I discovered the Peek-A-Boo, thanks to TUSCL, in about 2002. It was a real dive and some of the girls were scary but what mileage you could get! The place was seedy enough that I stayed out of the VIP rooms in back. It closed after (alleged) hurricane damage in 2005 and the sort of upscale gentlemen's club I detest is now on the site.
I still have a shirt that says "I Got A Nude Lap Dance From Your Girlfriend at Club Peek-A-Boo." I got to know the doorman Mitch pretty well- he looked like he should be working military security in Iraq. He had to be tough with that crowd. A year or so after the club closed we recognized each other at a trade show in Philly where he was selling metal buildings.

I agree Danny's was a gem, in fact when I had business in Nashville or Birmingham in those days I'd find a way to make a Memphis side trip. Returning to Birmingham made me a Yankee driving across Mississippi in the middle of the night. We were all crazy then. I think Danny's closed about 1993.
My favorite, without a doubt, was the Tanga Lounge in Tampa, the little hut out by the bay. It was probably most famous for the hard plastic chairs in the lap dance room, but it also had a great roster circa 1992-96. I still have a picture I took of brunette Pam and redhead Alison on the beach wearing "Wrap your ass in fiberglass" shirts I got from a Corvette shop. Raquel was the all-time cuddle queen. There were double dances with JJ & Rosemary and... I could go on but you get the idea. It was fading badly before highway expansion took the property in 2003.
One more club worthy of note was the House of Babes in Casselbury, Florida, the only nude club in the group around the Orlando jai-lai & dog track. It was a dump, then they fixed it up, then it had a fire. Coincidence?????
