I am doing a cultural ethnography on strip clubs. The one my group chose to attend was Roxy's in Brooklyn, Illinois. It was my first time ever in a strip club, and whoa was it an experience! haha. In my part of the project I have to define ethnicity and class as it pertains to Roxy's. Anyone have any thoughts? What do you guys notice, as far as ethnicity and class, in the more raunchier strip clubs?

Thanks for the responses! And yes I'm very serious about this. However, I waited until the last minute and I have to give this presentation tomorrow... ugh.The assignment was pretty broad. I have to simply define ethnicity and class as it was at Roxy's. For ethnicity, I think i will talk about how the club was mainly white. There was one black stripper and for a while there were two white men around her, but most of the time when she would get on stage most of the men would slowly get up and walk away. They had a 50 year old Asian stripper there as well, whom had two younger white men very interested in her. Do you guys notice things like this? What sort of mixing of races (or none) do you see, and why do you think that is? For class I have to discuss things like how it seemed that the men were really cheap and were trying to tip as little as they could to get as much as they could. Seems like they had to tip just a dollar and the women were already full blown naked in their face haha. I noticed that when a man walked in with nice clothes and an expensive watch, the women sort of flocked to him. What do you guys see as class in strip clubs?

I'm impressed you get to go to strip clubs for class (I'm assuming you are a college student of some kind).
It also matter where you are in the country/world. Here in south FL, the majority of the raunchiest clubs are predominantly latin... but then again, latins make up approx. 80% of the population here in the Miami area. Go a little farther north into Fort Lauderdale and you'll get more whites and blacks.
Personally, I think raunchiness tends to matter more on the socio-economic background of the girls/club. High-end clubs get more high-end girls that tend to never offer the kind of "extras" that you'll get in the smaller clubs in the seedier areas.
As for ethnicity, I think there are a number of guys (myself included) that sometimes use strip clubs to get their "jungle fever/yellow fever/white girl fever/etc" taken care of, just as they would use hookers/escorts to get acts performed that they couldn't get normally or easily. I also think the more savvy strippers know this and recognize it, and use it to their advantage.
As it's been said many times here, strippers usually only see customers as 1 color... $$$ green.

Yes, I'm a college student and I was able to do this project because my teacher is very open-minded. It was my first time in a strip club and although the one i went to was really raunchy and disgusted me, it also intrigued me haha, so I might take a trip to one again in the future.

I like to think of my favorite club, Shotgun Geniez in Hamburg, Iowa, as raunchy, and while the majority of the girls there are white, its also rural, so you'd expect that there. On the other hand, I once drove thru Brooklyn, IL and its probably safe to say its mostly African American. Then again, they do have more than their fair share of African American girls in Shotgun Geniez, at least compared to what you would expect. (According to Wikipedia, Hamburg, Iowa is 96% white, but when I go to Shotgun Geniez, the girls aren't 96% white. My last visit was an exception, however.)
The raunchiest club, if raunchiness were measurable, that I've seen is not far from Roxy's, at Miss Kitty's in Washington Park, IL, and based on my only experience there, half of the girls are black, and most of the rest are not white (if Hispanics are different than whites). The real question may be why blacks are raunchier than whites.
