If at least one of you is making the correct assumption, things should be fine. If both of you assume wrong, it could be a suboptimal outcome. Same concept with birth control/vasectomy

Understand the premise. But as a practitioner of YOLO, there's many factors at play and I'd only be able to answer that question in the moment.
I wouldn't do bareback with a woman under 90. I am impervious to disease, but not pregnancy. I would hate to have to kill myself because I impregnated a stripper.

Sorry for being a game theory stickler, but I can't see how this is a prisoner's dilemma. Both cooperating should be the optimal outcome, even though each individual has a better outcome by defecting. Is PrEP/vasectomy the cooperation move or the defector move?
It is kind of like an inverse of normal rules, where if just one person acts responsibly (if you could ever call raw dog responsible), then both benefit. And thankfully, there is a lot of noise in the system, so even if both parties are irresponsible, that usually does not result in a suboptimal outcome.
