I'm thinking this is a generational thing. I don't want to be one of those geezers commenting online about pictures of girts (Whoops! I meant "women"--sorry Gloria, wherever you are) from the 60s and 70s and going on about "no artificial enhancement, not tats, no excess piercings, no excess weight" , etc etc, but...
If a 5 means she was average for women under 35 in the 1960s, that seems reasonable. But average was a higher bar. People ate healthier, and got more exercise. The smoking and heavier drinking generally only affected appearance starting in middle age. More women smoked back then. But most of them smoked a couple cigarettes a day, the way most people smoke in Mexico.
