I've heard it can, but I ask mainly because I hear dancers there say things like "I clocked in at x:xx o'clock", or "I had to make up a shift I missed." Or "I got charged a huge fine for taking two weeks off." Lots of things that don't make sense for a contractor. Either way, they seem to have established impressively tight control over dancer's schedules, to the benefit of both club and customers.
I don't know about this club, so I can't answer your question specifically. But I hear similar things here at clubs where they are IC's, so I wouldn't assume either way.
Some clubs around here have rules saying the girls must stay for certain number of hours, and/or their house fee is determined by the time they start. So they know when they clock in. Some have rules requiring them to work non-prime shifts in exchange for the privilege of working the prime shifts, or similar concepts with higher house fee's aka fines for girls who only work the busiest shifts.
I can't say I've heard the piece about getting fined for taking weeks off, but I do know some clubs offer discounted house fees for consistent workers, and I can see strippers mentally equating the lack of a discount to the imposition of a fine, so it's possible that's all she meant.
I would tend to agree, the clubs that influence or control dancer shifts tend to better or at least more my style. Or maybe I just like the dancers who are capable and willing to comply with those regulations. But they also tend to have more consistent business, which I presume is due to happier customers and leads to higher profits.
Every club makes them clock in and keep their shifts. Independent contractor clubs will still fine girls for missing shifts and stuff. Being an independent contractor doesn't mean you do whatever you want. Its just a way for employers to avoid fair wages benefits etc. But youre still treated as an employee

Actually Icey, most clubs stopped that crap a long time ago, precisely to avoid future misclassification lawsuits. Nowadays the primary purpose in clocking girls in is to determine the bar fee. Many clubs have escalating fees for later arrival times in order to encourage girls to work slower parts of the shift.
