Musings II

I’ve been at this for a long time but I’ve never seen this before. I met up with an old friend, something I never do, in an out of the way semi-dive club. And what did my eye spy? Hospital IV set-ups across the room. I naturally assumed they were some gimmicky spring-break method to drink the local specialty or something. The thing was that the crowd was made up of nothing but OLD guys. I must have been the youngest one there and I’m no spring chicken.
Never assume. My young dancer companion told me that they were in fact IV drips. I then watched what she told me was the resident nurse stick two old guys and start a drip. According to my dancer they regularly give IVs to guys for their hangovers so they can start drinking again.
I just handed over my pinball crown to these true professionals.

last commentThere is no way in hell I would ever allow a needle from a strip club anywhere near one of my veins. Nor do I trust a nurse employed by a strip club to be properly skilled and licensed. In a semi-dive bar, too? Where the dancers hot enough and the mileage extra enough to warrant the risk?

this is a common practice and here in Dallas, the IV service providers are mobile and will come to you. this has been done since about 2020. In fact, you can add certain ingrediants to your service, such as Vitamin C, D or others.. my friends swear by them on the weekend. Here is an AI reply:
IV drips are sometimes used to alleviate hangover symptoms, offering a potentially faster way to rehydrate and address other hangover-related issues like nausea and headaches. They can include fluids with electrolytes, vitamins, and medications to combat dehydration and other symptoms. While IV therapy can provide faster relief than oral hydration or medication, it's not a universally accepted or proven solution and is often considered a "boutique"

The hangover IVs aren't generally administered by nurses. Ive seen them in mall kiosks. Along with the oxygen for hangovers. I wouldnt do it there let alone a club

I know about home infusions services for Immunoglobulin and prescription infusion medications, but mobile home IV service for hangovers? I will give you a fast and inexpensive hangover prevention and treatment plan, ordered from least important to most:
Stick with one type of alcohol throughout the night. Try not to mix beers, cocktails, shooters, and wines.
Before you go to bed, take one aspirin. Drink a full 10-12oz of water and take another aspirin. This helps your liver and kidneys by thinning out your blood and minimizing dehydration.
Never, ever eat when you are drunk. I know all too well the siren call of the local drive-thru on your way home. I was on a first name basis with the guy who manned my local Taco Bell drive-thru on the weekend overnight shift. Eating food acts opposite to the aspirin, slowing absorption and filtration, ensuring that your body cannot efficiently filter out the toxins and wastes from the binge drinking.
Two fried eggs and a bottle of gatorade (propel is even better) in the morning will replace all of the lost electrolytes, hydration, and vitamins with a boost of protein and healthy fats.
These are gammanu tried and true. You can count on these because my casual drinking is your alcohol poisoning.

^^^ or if any of that isn't your cup of tea you can do what Sinclair does the morning after, that is drink two red eyes and fry a pound of bacon.

If you drink that heavily, you might have a wee bit of a problem.
