Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying

Sadly, the long-time owner of one of my favorite clubs recently passed away. He was old school. The kind of guy that girls wanted to work for because he a was fair and provided a safe relaxed, no pressure place where they could make money.

I can’t say we were friends having spoken only a few times but the last time I was there he came over and sat down with me engaging in small talk. As we both watched the girls he looked at me with a twinkle in his eyes and said “we don’t sell them but you can seduce them.” I laughed and we both looked at the girl sitting next to me as she blushed perhaps because I had previously taken her out on a date. I don’t think anyone got much by him.

He then bought me a beer and we continued watching the girls. As time passed more and more of his employees and dancers came by to say hello to me. He got a strange look on his face and said “they like you”. I laughed it off saying they liked my money but he very seriously corrected me “no! they all genuinely like you.”

That’s how I’ll remember him and I hope he was right. The club hasn’t yet closed and I’m uncertain if it will remain open but some how I doubt it will be the same. He was only a few years older than I am and I’m very aware that my own time is running out. Honestly the only thing that acts as a sort of fountain of youth for me these days is the company of sweet young women. I’m not going to give up until there is nothing left. YOLO.
