Does anybody like this app? Why?
I haven't used it. Only seen videos from in copied to other social media. I don't see why anyone would want to look at it, unless they were in solitary confinement in prison.

Since I move around a lot, I find Facebook and Instagram useful. To keep up with people I'm no longer able to easy get together with in person.

I got the app during like 2020 or 2021, went through a phase a binge scrolling, and then got bored and quit watching. Lately, It’s so cringeworthy to hear colleagues in my vanilla job describe stripping, selling underwear, feet pics, onlyfans, sugar daddies etc because of a TikTok video the couple of times that has happened.I bite my tongue and stay silent because I don’t want to incriminate anything about myself.
I would imagine that descriptions of other industries are likey also bullshit because of that.

@ns what was on your feed that motivated you to binge initially?
I've only seen TikTok videos copied onto other sites, it's always people lipsynching and/or doing challenges.

Idk, originally it had a wide variety of content. I liked the guy who presented “animal facts”, but presented it in a deadpan manner. There was also the guy who “took the time to read the tech company terms of service so you don’t have to”, random history things, etc. But then later on once TikTok pegged me as a nonwhite sex worker millennial, the algorithms pushed me into a lot of super left wing content. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind that content by itself. And some videos with that toned, yeah I clicked the like button and continued to scroll .But it seemed like there was a rabbit hole I was getting pushed to and it annoyed me.

@ns sounds pretty much like Facebook's feed algorithm. I wish somebody would go back in time and shoot Zucky, so all my friends would be on IG. IG seems to be the best social media site for keeping your feed mostly posts from friends/creators you explicitly follow.

Yes but he didn't start it, and so far, isn't dumb enough to make it as crappy as fb.

Tiktok isnt bad.you can find anything on it . Its what you choose to look at.
