Still no discounted cover for calling ahead?

I'm fine. I'm disgusted with my life and myself, but I'm not unhappy about that.
Palomino’s website used to tell you how to get the discounted cover by not taking a cab or Uber. They explained the whole bounty system and proudly bucked it. Now, even if you get there yourself, reviews are saying the cover is $66? Includes two drinks but that’s still too much to pay before you even step in the door to see who is there. I’ve been next door at Chicas probably 20 times since my last visit to palomino. I miss the old club.

Yeah, the last three times I've walked over from Chica's to get a taste of English....I've turned right around and walked back over to Chica's. Spearmint early day by shuttle had no cover the last time I checked it.

But, full nude, booze, and no bottle charge for the upstairs booths.....I get it.

I've only been once in the past 2 years, but I went expecting to pay a cover, parked in their lot, had my cash in hand when I approached the pretty lady in front, and she said: "no cover". Based on experiences over the years showing up between 6:15 - 7:15, when things are dead, dead, dead, means no cover.

I still frequent Palomino because I like the stage show, the semi-private dances, and the fit dancers. It's also nice to pair with a walk down to Chicas, though on a weekend night Chicas is fire-hazard crowded making it less fun.

Years ago Palomino would pick up a single rider, but since then I've always walked over from Jerry's. In my last few visits I've been charged nothing, $15, $30, and $60 with no clear reason for the difference. I always tell them I walked over to avoid the cab spiff, but I'm not sure that matters. As skibum observed, I've been slightly more likely to be waved in if I arrived earlier, but that's not certain. I've been charged cover early and charged nothing after 9.

Last year I was there and paying my $30 when a trio of guys showed up. They were told they had to buy a bottle and table, like $600 or something. So it can be pretty random.

I think it mostly depends on what the bouncer feels like doing at the moment. Which is an irritating way to run the door, but whatever. The higher cover charges come with drink tickets, so it's sort of like enforcing a drink minimum.

Thanks for that info. I’m not sure whether to be encouraged that I might not get charged $66 after arranging my own transportation or dismayed by the lack of management policy. My friends also like chicas, so if they want to try palomino and the bouncer wants a crazy cover or bottle charge, we’d have no issue bailing to chicas. Shame.
