No More Street Girls in Zona Norte?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/tijuana-sex-w…?

The new mayor of Tijuana has hired a new police chief who apparently has a reputation of being tough on prostitution. According to this report, many of the SGs in Zona Norte are concerned that he may discourage them from working in public.

In my opinion, this would not be the right move. The Zona Norte has long been a tolerance zone, and last I checked, prostitution was legal in Mexico. I get it that the new mayor and police chief want to reduce TJ’s murder rate, but I don’t see how criminalizing street prostitution works towards that aim.

I never patronize the street girls, but this is still highly disconcerting. If they come for the Paraditas are the Bar Girls next?

All I really know about the street chicks is what one BG told me. She was telling me about how the clubs are over controlling, and have a hundred ways of getting more money out of them. So I asked her, why not just work out on the street. She said all the street chicks have pimps. She then spoke highly of a unit of the police who protected street chicks from their pimps. Knowing Mexico, I asked her if the pimps just bribed those cops. But she said the pimps were not able to bribe them. On the other hand, she said the mission of those cops was to help women get out of sex work. Not to protect women from pimps, theives and bad customers while they did sex work. If it is true, that pimps won't let anybody work renegade, no loss, better that the cop shut it down.

^ the cynic in me thinks maybe the girls have to pay the cops for protection from pimps and bad customers.

Cheap hookers is part of the Mex tradition. The locals will be very upset with this ban. It's also a huge cashcow for the economy.

I just talked with a couple of buddies (non-TUSCL members). They tell me that the street girls report that the new police chief wants them to dress more modestly - whatever the heck that means. They also said police are starting to make arrests on those street girls who don’t comply. Man, are they killing the Zona Norte street vibe or what? Wouldn’t surprise if HK and the other clubs are in cahoots with local LE in an attempt to eliminate competition.

Nah, not really true. I've been in La Zona a lot lately and the street girls are dressed pretty much like they were before. Talent is pretty good in HK. The 9's and 10's are all asking for $150 and some are unwilling to budge on that number. People on Reddit are saying hold the line at $100. It's probably possible to get a chica for $80 or $100, but I highly doubt they are top shelf talent. They are probably 6's or 7's at best. Jascoi when are you coming back to Tijuana?
