Casino Hotel Recommendations

Recently I was in Reno and I found a great deal on a casino hotel online. I only payed like $72, $73 bucks something like that for a tuesday night. A place called Atlantis. Probably nicest place I've ever stayed like a Vegas style casino really high end. I thought Reno mostly just had the old school casinos downtown.

It was pretty cool but it got me think I would actually do that again sometime, I get the tradeoff they want to give you a good price, so you'd stay there and gamble there. I'll make that trade every time, I can resist. There's a stronger urge that many of us know that pretty much cancels that out. Anyway it got me thinking what are some other Casino/Hotel situations where it's a pretty good deal and you guys stay every time? Could be anywhere in America, I'll just take mental notes.

Usually when I decide to "splurge" on a hotel, it's usually some ghetto ass motel 6 and it goes exactly how you think it would go. But even when it's just that, I'm still spending like $50, $60 bucks. If every staying at every casino is like what I just was at, like this super boogie ass upscale joint, it was amazing. Fuck Walmart. I'm done, I'm giving it up.

Hotels in Vegas and Reno can be pretty affordable since gambling subsidizes it. Grand Sierra in Reno is great. In Vegas I like the off-strip South Point. Always great deals.

Vegas has tons of hotel deals even in the nice casinos if you stay midweek or in any of the non peak seasons. Sign up for MGM, Caesars and the other member programs and get even better discounts. There are more than a dozen hotels that are part of those groups. You don’t even have to gamble or spend money there, though it helps. You automatically move up a tier just for signing up. You’ll also get emails when they run sales. If you book months ahead you’ll do even better, and most allow cancellation for free up to 48 hours ahead of your stay. A little diligence can pay off with big discounts.

We like Biloxi. Mississippi is wonderful; much to our northern ass surprise.

Vegas hotels add resort fees that basically double the room price
Plus a 13% room tax.

The resort fees at the better hotels are $50 a day. It’s been a few years since I’ve visited in the offseason. The last time I did was a trip a couple weeks before the Super Bowl during the AFC/NFC championships weekend. It was also the week before the porn convention and Vegas was slow. Anyway, when I was checking in at the desk, I slipped a $20 bill in between my drivers license and credit card and asked the host whether there were any room upgrades available. Not only did she upgrade me to a suite, but she waived the resort fee for my entire stay. That trick will only work if the hotel isn’t at full occupancy and the worst that’ll happen is they’ll just say no and hand the $20 back. That’s been the result other times I’ve tried it.

Thats bs. They won't risk their job for $20. And the resort fees vary. The whole give yhem $20 snd theyll bend iver backwards for you bs is an urban legend. These hotels charge for everything from early checkin to using the adult pools.

Before I retired, I got a good "deal" on a Reno hotel. I didn't pay a damn thing to stay there. Don't recall the name, but company paid for room, and per diem covered meals.( business trip) Now the Men"s Club within close walking distance was another story......

I've gotten the resort fees waived at both the Aria, and the Bellagio, not by slipping them a twenty, I use a local travel agent, she gets stupid charges like resort fees waived, or she gets me a voucher at other places, resort fees are a way of life at better hotels all over the world now, very rarely will you get them waived but you can get perks added to your stay that will make the cost of those surcharges irrelevant, if you know what you're doing.

Icey its not really risking their job for $20 since those hotel reps are probably given leeway as far as upgrading rooms for different customer service reasons. They give upgrades all the time for different customer service related reasons, do you even have any experience with hotels outside of the odd ones you used for pimping your girl

I’ll stay at the Hard Rock hotel in South TAHOE during the shoulder season. I think it’s around the same price as what you paid, of course being on a Tuesday (early week). You get the beautiful lake to walk around outdoors when tired of gambling, and the area is awesome to walk or take a drive. I even find the ski resorts have awesome deals with stunning views. I’m taking the family there when we are tired of our local options. Kind of do a wine trip
To Napa/Sonoma and then run up the hill to Tahoe. Lots of flight options into Sacramento, too. My $0.02. There’s just so many options out there for scenery in the US, but fortunately heading out to the Greek islands, French Riviera, or coast of Italy will cure my need for culture away from casinos.

Soooo many Indian casinos within a 10-20 minute drive of my house.

When I first started my job, I've done the $20 trick more times than I can count. It's worked at MGM, THeHotel, Caesars, Mandalay, iirc the Mirage, Bellagio, Venetian, and the Delano. I support an office in Vegas now so it's all a write off plus I have a bunch of comps. Right before covid, I was getting floor and tower upgrades and I've gotten a couple of free buffets, so ymmv.

To be fair, I have heard it not work in Caesars and maybe MGM recently. The guys at the Vegas office say to try $50.

Whats crazy is there are people in this group who will try to barter with hookers but dont mind being ripped off anywhere else

^im not sure what youre waffling about, a hooker is an independent business, if she’s independent she sets her own prices and more often than not they’re negotiable, its not like walmart where the employees have no authority to sell items for cheaper or higher prices, you’re directly dealing with the business owner.

It’s been ten years since I regularly traveled to Reno, but I often stayed at Atlantis and Rhe Peppermill just north of it on the other side of Vrginia. Depending upon what was in town, often got very good rates. In those days, I thought those two were nicer and cleaner than the downtown casino hotels (I stayed in most of them at least once.) but that may have all changed by now.
