  Are “pornstars” still a thing? I couldn’t name one current port actor or actress. Back in the do-called Golden Age of Porn (1969-1 984) and the Second Wave (1984 to mid 90’s) there were a handful of female superstars and an even smaller number of males. I would go to the VHS section in the video store and seek out names. I don’t think exists anymore. I seek out fresh faced “amateurs” (take that term with a grain of salt). I have no interest in worn out stars

  @motorhead there are still contract "stars" today no different than back in the day. The industry just has more options with amateurs and self content providers having better technology to get their stuff out there. Examples of bonafide pornstars today are Angela White, Kendra Sunderland, Blake Blossom.

  Yeah, I think I agree with @motorhead...porn favorites don't really exist anymore? It's just an endless bunch of randos getting stuck in dishwashers or catching their stepbrothers in compromising situations, never to be heard from again.   Good point, Motorhead. The days of the "pornstar" are long gone. Jenna Jameson may have been the last one. Now, a new girl appears, grows in popularity, and is replaced by next year's model(s). And those who try to stay near the top often lose those fresh faces quickly.

  I guess I'm just old school and prefer watching the big studios porn more than amateur self produced content like on onlyfans. The overall production and women are generally better.   It has always seemed odd to me how the most popular porn stars mostly have a pretty face, wear a B-cup, and have around 32, 34 inch hips.   I have also heard that the peak of the porn star has kinda died out. I think maybe there is just too much competition now. I have heard similar for the avg model aka not high fashion or Victoria's Secret Angel- it doesn't pay what it used to cuz it isn't that in anymore.   Internet is killing the porn star. Anyone can access 8 or more minutes of graphic sex without purchasing anything. Users old enough to remember when VHS was the only option understand. You could pay no less than $19.99 for a crap shoot of low production values and unfamiliar names and possibly score an undiscovered gem, conversely you could pay $69.99 for 59 minutes of "top porn starlet" garbage. So many strippers and porn stars turned to camming, and then so many of them turned to OnlyFans. It really has been such a drain on top talent that few truly exceptional girls remain broadly available in traditional porn scenes. There's a lot scenes out there, but I am talking about "truly exceptional" (your opinion may vary). My tastes vary broadly, but Nala Brooks is a good suggestion. Not only does she have an incredible body, but she excels at the dirty talk and raises the bar in the peformance art of fucking.   gammanu95 makes several good points regarding the ways porn stardom is no longer what it once was. As much as free porn can benefit the porn consumer, it has likely contributed to the decline of those producing content. Based on my understanding, it appears women can do well on a platform like only fans - once they develop a dedicated following. So, maybe the folks who are interested in paid content have moved to the only fans type of content? I think it’s more of a way for “stars” to interact with fans.

  nowadays the internet is making it almost impossible for a porn starlet to have household name status whose last name is not kardashian. years back chances were that people from all walks of life have heard of the name jenna jameson. i actually am a big fan of onlyfans. one doesn't have to choose to subscribe and pay. usually someone will have an account of a girl on OF and upload clip(s) onto tnaflix, xhamster, etc. you can still find girls that are your type - just have to search harder. personally i think the OF girls are more sexier than the ones that work for the major adult film studios. if anything almost all of my current faves that have or still work for those studios all started from doing internet porn. OF, girls on tik tok and twitter are currently the minor league system for some of these studios.

  Basically that's the change, the good money's in controlling your own content on OnlyFans or some other website. Not in groveling to some porn studio to put you on their VHS tapes or DVDs. Seems like, in order to have steady work for years, you have to be the type that fans want a fantasy relationship with, don't just fantasize about hooking up with you. Having popular material on pornhub does seem to help if you want to feature dance, or get much better rates as an escort.
