What's the best way to ensure an escort ad isn't a sting?

Was bored one night and saw a nice ad on one of the escort sites.
Started communicating then I got spooked.
Remembered a former buddy who signed up to see some escort in a hotel, saw it was a sting as they had plainclothes rounding up dudes in an area off to the side of the lobby, high-tailed it, didn't get caught.
a) he, at the time, was younger and much faster, I'm not outrunning anyone.
b) he didn't drive up there so no car to come back for
c) I don't need that kind of shot of adrenaline
Best I could think of is a response like "I'll pay you $50 to just chat for 20-30 mins and let's see where things go next time", eat the $50 for peace of mind and then going forward, if she's good ... keep it going
Any better ideas that are less expensive with faster fulfillment?
