Global Entry Interview

I was conditionally approved for Global Entry, next step is to schedule an interview. Next interview isn’t available until September 2023. I know I can keep checking daily for cancellations. I’ve also heard that if you are re-entering the country via an airport, you can request a Global Entry interview right then and there at the counter.

Do any of you know if this same strategy could be used crossing by foot back into the US from Mexico? If I go to the counter and let them know I have been conditionally approved for Global Entry, will they interview me on the spot?

you need to go to the correct counter. not all counters do the interview. i went to the wrong counter. had to go wait in a different line. You need to bring proof of address. License should be fine. Answer a few questions and done. five to fifteen minutes depending on your answers, their mood and if you are in another program like TSA pre.

when i traveled in august, only participating international airports provided the interview on return.

Shop around for other locations near you. Some interview locations are less crowded if you are willing to drive an hour or two.

Interview is a piece of cake once you can get an appointment

I did mine in my “small” town. I was shocked that I didn’t have to go to the nearby metro area. Keep looking maybe there’s somewhere else nearby.

There's an app that will send you available appointments daily. I think it's $19 bucks but from what I read it can get you in quick. It might be the .com provided up above.

How long was your app in conditional review? I've been waiting 3 months in that status.

Short answer is "no," you have to be coming in on an international FLIGHT and then only certain airports will have someone on staff to interview. The GOV web site has a list of supported APs. You could always fly to Germany, visit the FKKs, and return through an approved AP.

Used to be that the Otay Mesa was conducting interviews 24/7. Did my first interview there and then went across the border for some happy time. They do not issue the card on the spot, so you cannot use GA to skip the line, but isn't a little time on line worth visiting the Happiest Adult Place On Earth?

What do you say when they ask you why you go to Mexico so often?

Good food. Learning Spanish. Love Mexico. Cultural experience. To see the Great Wall that Mexico paid for.
