Mitt Romney learned about the Republican Right I think it was 62 or 64, when his mother ran for a Michigan US Senate Seat.
Romney identifies with the Republicans, but not with their more extreme and irresponsible side.
And of course the party activists and the primary voters are more from this extreme side.
