Come on down and get some free shit in California!

And then when they ask why Walgreens had to pack up and leave San Francisco, residents wonder why Walgreens wasn't woke enough or "Why couldn't they just work with the community more?" Yeah I know, they are actually saying that!

On days like today, it's important to remember you get what you vote for. And then some.

Wonder when theracialslurforblackpeopleformerlyknownas2icee calls this an "act of resistance," like sneaking a dime on produce.

You also get the opportunity to watch people crap on the sidewalk, pay some of the highest income taxes in the country and pay almost $5 for a gallon of gas.

Newsome sent checks to his voting base just before the recall election so, of course, he survived that. In the meantime, people funding the free shit are looking to leave. They will eventually run out of other people's money.

They're saving because workers are unionized. They can't cut hours so they shutter stores or store hours. Its union busting.

And if their prices were affordable. Fuck if life was affordable people wouldn't steal. So fuck business sector greed.

^ You mean to say you steal because you're poor?

My nephew worked at a retail chain that was non-union and it was closed in his SF location. He is still with the company but transferred to a location where police still enforce existing laws.

You admit we live in a failed nation where poor people have to steal

I didn't bother watching the youtube videos, but obviously enough, it's not just that one Walgreens. Every day it seems like, there's a story about a store closing -- not just national chains, but mom and pops who can't suffer the shoplifting losses. The complementary stories are those stores that aren't closing completely, but reducing their nighttime hours to close at 7 or 9 or whatever. A couple of days ago, the only Safeway (grocery store) in a poor neighborhood had to trim its hours back, again due to crime. Hurts especially since many people will come home late from work and find they can't shop, since it was the only grocery store in the neighborhood.

The Magnificent Mile in Chicago is experiencing the same exodus, but at a much higher price point than Walgreens or Safeway.

I'll not lie, I experience immense schadenfreude watching the progressive policies backfire and implode. The people who suffer as a result of these policies deserve no pity, since they are the political base for those politicians and major donors of the same at the opposite income extreme.

We will live in a suburb until we retire and then move rural and cold. Nothing says fuck ups stay away like 10 below zero.

If progressive policies were the solution, why are SF and Chicago not paradise? They haven't seen an icky Republican in decades.

I suppose "poverty" is why they're shoplifting Nikes and flat screen TVs.

"I'll not lie, I experience immense schadenfreude watching the progressive policies backfire and implode."

I think we have to watch our schadenfreude. The thing about progressives is, their remedy for failures is always: more progressive policies, that go even farther. Icee's responses above are typical: they interpret the reality we all experience, in a way that justifies more progressive policies. Kids are being deeply indoctrinating into this way of interpreting reality in college or earlier; it does not bode well

I watched the 4th of Muddy's videos. It does sound like there could be a union busting motive. But I also take note of DA Chesa Boudin. He is interesting because he came in saying that he would not prosecute most misdemeanors. He also will not enforce the prostitution law, nothing which just comes down to "sex between consenting adults".

My feeling was that though interesting, he might get ousted. The 2018 election was influenced by Democrats coming out to vote, to try and neutralize Trump. Big Democratic gains in the US House in 2018. Trump is gone now, so things may have gone back to as before. I know Boudin is the target of a recall attempt, and I am meaning to follow it.

That Walgreens is having a far higher loss rate than at their other stores, and even after increasing their private security, suggests that it is about a change in criminal enforcement.

Enforcement of things like shoplifting is completely political. Of a case in San Mateo County, a San Francisco defense attorney said that the Judges were fascist. There was one guy who had fired his pistol into the ceiling tiles in a department store, and he got nothing, and he got his gun back. But for shoplifting, "they will want to hang you."

@Subra True it's like there's not self awareness at all. They can't figure it out and there answer is always to get more woke. The entire left just decided to up and leave for Pluto.

@Icee put your money where your mouth is. Start giving all of your shit away then lets go. If your gonna do it, do it right. Your about this life so show us how it's done.

@gammanu It's a shame what's happening to Chicago. I pay attention closely, everyday there's another crazy story about how not to run a city. It really is or now was one of the greatest cities in the world but not we're watching go the way of Detroit warp speed this year. Any Tax payer with half a brain is getting the fuck outta there.

The stealing is not an unintended consequence of liberal policies in Democrat run cities but in many cases is actually planned. By driving out middle class residents who might vote Republican, these Democrat politicians guarantee that they will maintain future control of the city. In political science this even has a name, the "Curley Effect". James Curley was a early twentieth century Boston mayor who drove all the wealthier Yankees out of Boston with his policies, leaving the poorer Irish in permanent control of the city.

This middle class exodus has an effect on a lot of urban strip clubs. When middle class guys move out to suburbs they are less likely to go to inner city strip clubs they have to make a long drive to get to. As they decrease as a percentage of strip club customers, the type of strippers who appeal to them decrease as a percentage of the strippers in the clubs because they have more trouble making money. This has a snowball effect as middle class guys can't find girls they like when they do go and then further decrease their visits because of that.

I started going to Indianapolis clubs 12 years ago. I lived on a street with 3 strip clubs and I don't think I would have developed the habit without being so close to them. I moved further out of the city to get away from increasing crime and now go to Indianapolis clubs only about half as much as I used to because they are worse now and it's a longer drive to get to them. I may even have to move further out of the city because where I live now is starting to have increasing crime. I just had a catalytic converter stolen off my car and it cost me $1500 to replace it. I told my next door neighbor that and he told me he just had his motorcycle stolen.

Give the people what they want. Philly re-elected the disastrous woke D.A. Larry Krasner amid the worse crime wave in its history - murders and violent crime through the roof. But the voters apparently want more of the same. So be it. Anyone with any sense will vote with their feet and leave - if they can.

ICEE, you have since trouble following the thread so let me do a little research. Why are guys stealing makeup? You make it sound like they're stealing to survive when that has never been shown to be the case.

Maybe that's why your broke ass shortchanges grocery stores on produce.

we will see how the Chesa Boudin recall goes, and what sorts of arguments are advanced by the two sides. Maybe June 2022. I think that is how this will be framed.

Remember also that Boudin says he will not enforce the prostitution law.

Boudin won't get recalled. He's for decarceration. Youre making it sound like solicitation is his main concern. It isnt.

===> "A couple of days ago, the only Safeway (grocery store) in a poor neighborhood had to trim its hours back, again due to crime."

You just hit it on the head. It's the unintentional consequences of ill considered policies. It isn't the affluent folks living out in leafy green suburbs who will pay the price for this, but rather honest lower income residents of high crime areas. If you believe the notion that some parts of CA's urban areas are food deserts now, imagine what it's going to be like in a year or two when most stores in those neighborhoods are forced to close because theft is making them unprofitable.

But hey, apparently a majority of CA voters are just fine with policies like this. They had their chance to replace Newsom but didn't. Pretty soon the only people who are going to be left in CA are the fruit loops who love this crazy town stuff and low income people too poor to move and too dependent on CA's generous welfare machinery.

"And it's not how it used to be"

Ah remember the old days, when only those gosh darn black folk were followed and left us non colored folk alone? Man I miss um. Now I'm getting followed. And I'm white!!😱

^^^^ Housing costs are pretty ridiculous. And we have local politicians who do nothing but try to prop up real estate prices by pushing patently racist and illegal policies. They do it and do it until the court kicks their butt.
