I have a few questions for you unisex bathroom people.

First of all, where do you draw the line? Would you still have urinals so that the ladies need to wash their hands in a sink that's right next to some dude taking a piss? Rebuild the whole bathroom and put urinals inside stalls with doors? Get rid of urinals altogether and men end up pissing all over the toilet seats?

How about locker rooms with showers? Men and women at the gym (or boys and girls in school) strip down naked and shower together? Assuming you're not proposing anything that extreme (and I really hope you're not) then what about the toilets located in locker rooms? I mean, where there are showers there are always toilets. If it's so important to have unisex toilets, what do you do? Remove toilets from the shower areas? I think we all know what that would lead to - a lot more people of either sex pissing in the shower. Nice.

Nothing about unisex public toilets makes any sense to me. How do you accommodate the overwhelming majority of people who will never feel comfortable doing their business among members of the opposite sex? For example, I feel sorry for the lady who's unlucky enough to be in the stall next to me when I'm taking a shit. Not to get into too much detail, but I promise she won't like what she hears and smells. Quite honestly, I really don't think any guy wants to see a woman, especially a nice sexy woman, go into a stall and then hear a bunch of farting and shit sounds. Ughh.

These bathrooms are now, college dormitories and restaurants. They vary. In restaurants many are single person rooms, but not in the dormitories.

Not aware that it is like this in locker room showers.

But this case is something different, not about the restroom policy.

There's a lot of secrecy around this case because both victims and the suspect are minors. Therefore I haven't found a single report from any news outlet that says whether or not this rapist was a known transvestite and/or claimed to be transgender prior to these assaults. But the logical assumption has to be that he had been dressing as a girl for at least some time, and most likely had permission to use the girls bathroom. Otherwise, why would the school board be so gung ho to renovate the rest rooms for "additional privacy?" Clearly he was doing this and it was controversial among other students and their parents.

Do we know this for sure? No, we don't. But do you really think a boy that lots of people knew just one day decided to dress up like a girl in order to gain access to the girls room, and no one noticed? Even if he dressed up so well that people didn't recognize him, they would have wondered, "Who's the new girl?" This wasn't a public train station or someplace where no one knows each other. In a high school everybody knows everyone else.

My bet is the freak was planning this for a long time. And since he'll be tried in juvenile court, and will likely use his supposed "gender confusion" to convince the court that he's got emotional issues, he'll probably end up in therapy for a while and then be turned loose to do it again. He should be locked up for a good long time, and upon turning 18 be transferred to an adult prison. But I have very little confidence that will happen.

It sounds like gender identity, and sending him to another school to rape again, was integral in the cover up.

It turned out bad and it seems to have been handled badly. But gender identity was never the issue. The issue was cover up and sexual assault.

And why did the cover up happen?

Well if the school had failed to report to the police, because of mandatory reporting, that would have been a federal felony.

They have to protect the suspect boy's name.

As far as reporting to the parents, not sure about the legalities of that. Police might have told them to let police handle it because it is part of an open investigation.

But the issue here is the sexual assault, not the boy's gender identity or manner of dress, as those are not abuse, assault, or illegality.

I am sure that these schools are having to review security and these bathroom locker room policies.
