There used to be a saying that the Texas legislature ran on “booze, blondes, and beef steak.”. I’m starting to think the good ole boy network was actually superior to what exists now. This is indefensible garbage. Jail time and felony convictions are something Bible Thumpers and man hating feminists could come up with if you forced them to collaborate on something,
“Texas is the first in the country to punish sex buyers with felonies, which is a substantial step towards curbing the demand for commercial sex,” Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement.
The first two provisions target AMPs and hostess bars. Nothing much that impacts strip clubs, IMO.
“Law enforcement would be permitted to issue notice to the owner of a massage establishment if they have reason to believe the promotion of prostitution, compelled prostitution, or the commercial manufacture or distribution of obscene material has occurred on the property, rather than having to make an arrest to issue notice. After issuing notice, a subsequent arrest or police testimony that the illegal activity occurred would constitute evidence that the owner knowingly tolerated it and did not make a reasonable effort to abate it.”
I wonder why this targets massage establishments and not strip clubs? Maybe they’re already covered under some other existing law?

Paxton is a Trumptard Republican.

So? Like the first guy wrote, it's a bipartisanship deal sponsored by 7 Democrats and 7 Republicans.
"HB 1540 was filed by state Rep. Senfronia Thompson, D-Houston."

Good thing Texas clubs are super duper squeaky clean! Nothing to worry about for anyone there 🙂

WTF kind of name is Senfronia?

It seems like one of those attempts to kill prostitution veiled in the cloak of preventing human trafficking.
This is an improper attempt to hurt the customers who help sex workers (by providing them with money for services rendered).

The reputation of the Houston hostess bars is real good.
Texas is where we need to send ICEE to.

This kind of a law is completely crazy. Everyone should be very concerned about the inherent privacy violations.
