According to TJ news article, as of monday 6/7, TJ will advance to ‘green’ tier. Do you think that mean PedWest opens up soon? I hope so cuz the wait to cross back into US is stupid long.
In a word, no. It's the U.S. government that will decide that and you're better off watching the State Department website. Right now, the next date for re-evaluating the border closure is June 21st. No reason to expect a change until then at the earliest. With this new Delta variant for Covid, I would put my money on the closure staying in place.
@greanbeans I've been to TJ twice and booth times there was no wait to cross back into the US, though both times I crossed at 4am not exactly peak traffic time.
I have also heard June 21st as a date to watch.
If you are planning to be in TJ for the 4th of July weekend have fun.
Today I crossed at Pedi East (as it is the only one open) at 9:00 am and the line was the shortest I have seen it in months.
I do not foresee Pedi West opening soon based on Covid status, because Pedi West is where they are processing (if you can call it that) migrants. There is a huge migrant tent camp on the Mexican side at the concrete slab in front of the entrance/exit.
That is funny. No I have not employed the services of coyotes. I have Sentri; no coyote required. Crossed the border today in 12 minutes and most of that was waiting on line for the X-ray machine.
I was offered to be taken across the border faster by van by a barker at the pedi crossing. I understand there is a process for doing so, but didn't inquire further, as his services were not necessary.
@Cristobal if you got some down time 7/4-7/6, PM me. Would love to catch up over some tragos at any zona bar of your choice. Now i just plan for the wait time in my schedule.
@tahoecruz lucky dog! I’m averaging 2 hour wait times in line, but dont have sentri. Just a regular ped line.
@CJKent_band my mom n I actually did use that service when we first came to US way back when, it was NOT faster than standing in line! Took a few days to cross. I’d rather wait a couple of hours in line

They can get you across the border in one of their tunnels in 30 minutes or less...
