At a college homecoming reception an older alumni was looking around obviously rather bemused and disturbed at the behavior of the students and more recent graduates. A confident young man decided to engage him in a conversation about the generations, which turned into a lecture. As he went on he explained how the older man couldn't possibly understand this new culture who had grown up with space travel, GPS, cell phones, the internet, all of the technology that they were brought up with and so comfortable with was all new to him. The younger fast moving tech-savy generation was comfortable with fast paced change and was quick to adapt to new and different things. Those of you in the older generations, he explained, couldn't possibly understand this new world, having grown up without all of the technical wonders of the age. "You're right," the older gentleman conceded, "we didn't have any of those things. We invented them."
Good joke. Keep in mind that we may have invented the technologies but it's the younger folks who figured out how to misuse them to annoy the rest of us. Like putting way too many commercials on TV. Or yelling into cel phones in restaurants.
