OT: Top Health Insurance Provider Tells Employees Not To Hire White Men

Cigna, one of the nation’s largest health insurance providers, has allegedly told employees not to hire white men as part of the company’s broader critical race theory campaign.

According to an internal chat log obtained by the Washington Examiner, a hiring manager at Cigna dismissed a white candidate because he did not fulfill the company’s diversity standards. In the chat, an employee suggested the company interview a man with extensive experience for an open position. The hiring manager allegedly told the employee that the man could not be interviewed because he is white.

In a separate chat log, a hiring manager dismissed another candidate who he assumed to be white. The candidate was a racial minority. After learning of the candidate’s accurate skin color — and little else — the hiring manager allegedly reversed course and hired the candidate.

Employees were also forced to undergo training wherein they were taught that white people have “white privilege,” straight men have “gender privilege,” and Christians have “religious privilege.” The company defines religious privilege as “a set of advantages that benefits believers of a certain religion but not people who practice other religions or no religions at all.”

Included in the training was an “inclusive language” guide, which told employees the phrase “hip hip hooray!” was inappropriate language.

The language guide asks employees to substitute certain phrases for more “inclusive” phrases such as:

“Brown Bag Lunch” → “Lunch-and-Learn/Grab n’Go”
“Wives/Husbands/Boyfriends/Girlfriends” → “Spouse/Partner”
“Mothering/Fathering” → “Parenting”
“Master Bedroom” → “Primary Bedroom”
“Long time, no see” → “It’s been a while”
“You’re to [sic] young to remember this, but…” → “Do you remember X?”

Employees were also asked to fill out a “societal norms” checklist where they listed whether they have characteristics associated with “privilege.” The checklist asked whether an individual was able bodied, aged 25-55, Christian, cis-male, heterosexual, upper class, and/or white.

Cigna also encouraged employees to read controversial books such as Ibram X. Kendi’s “How to be An Antiracist,” Robin DiAngelo’s “White Fragility,” and Michelle Alexander’s “The New Jim Crow.”

Large corporations across the country are pushing racial indoctrination on employees. At Morgan Stanley, one of the nation’s top investment banking firms, the company is requesting that employees fulfill a “diversity” quota in the applicant pool before moving forward with the interview process.

Similarly, at Deloitte, one of the world’s largest accounting and consulting firms, employees were told that unintentional “microaggressions” are considered punishable offenses. Examples of unacceptable “microaggressions” include “asking your Black male colleague to join the flag football or basketball team.”

    Things must be trending in a pretty good direction in the country if THIS is what has your panties in a such a triggered bunch. Aslo, did you notice the important qualifier used in the article? It is "alleged" to have been said. No names in the report, no direct quotes.

    We were told we can no longer say these things in interviews:

    Are you all black? you don't look all black.
    I've never heard of that school. Is it a black college?
    Are you from Mexico or one of the islands?
    Did your family come here before or after Pearl Harbor?
    Maybe we can go to lunch and you can teach me how to use chopsticks.
    Some of the girls like to sunbathe during lunch. There is a perfect spot right outside my office where no one can see you.
    We have a quite liberal casual dress policy for women. The guys like to give pointers on what they like to see girls wear.
    Are those real?
    Braless Friday is an office tradition and highly encouraged.
    A couple of the girls that were quite popular around the office got promoted to manager, if you know what I mean. Are you interested in rapid advancement?
    Are you fluent in any foreign languages? (that one is real! can't ask that!)
    You must have been in college in the 70's (can't ask that either)

    I have had many competent female colleagues and bosses over the decades. They only ones I have an issue with are the ones that wave the equality flag when it suits them but will later pull the "You can't expect me to do/know that! I'm just a girl!"

    I guess these allegations are possibly part of a hypersensitive office environment. The more rules they put in place, the more attention will go to not breaking them, and less attention will go to actual work.

    If I’m going to the restroom, and choosing the restroom becomes a multiple choice type of test - Male or male identifiers, Female or female identifiers, Goats and other cloven hooved creatures, Complete freaks, Or none of the above. I might just piss in the ficus...

    I read the article in the Washington Examiner, and it is absolutely mind-blowing.

    It's a self-defeating policy. It's only a matter of time before all of the competent employees leave, no qualified employees are hired, and business begins to suffer as a result.

    Mind you, I am not implying that heterosexual white males are the only competent and qualified employees. A far-left, toxic, workplace culture will drive of all employees; regardless of race, creed, and sexual orientation.

    Im actually surprised that the White Cigna CEO's comment about having experienced discrimination and racial bias when he was not allowed to play basketball with the black guys, was not flagged as "white privilege / entitlement / cultural appropriation" microaggression itself.

    Most organizations have legacy software that only a handful of longer service employees understand. Given the history of software engineering, these tend to be white males. Lose them all at once and it could be catastrophic.

    This is old news. I have been submitted to these kinds of HR training sessions for 15 years plus in a very progressive global biotech firm among others. Everyone knows they are bullshit and the basic takeaway for everyone should just be “don’t be an asshole or these are the types of allegations we will use to drum out the assholes”. The hiring practice is an issue, it doesn’t scale that way because talent development is a multi year commitment. You don’t just find highly trained competent experienced people of all colors that aren’t getting hired because of their skin color. You have to build them first, and right now on average asians, SE Asians, and caucasians have a huge head start educationally. If you’re focused just on hiring for diversity goals you’ll come up short. They have to invest in talent development over the long haul and if they have assholes working there then junior diverse talent isn’t going to hang around. Anyone with promise is in high demand within their skill range. The sad thing is there are enough assholes in leadership and Wall Street that they are vulnerable to the guilt trip from the activists. Just because it’s bullshit doesn’t mean there aren’t still a lot of assholes that still need an adjustment. The problem is they are usually waived from the bullshit training, they just want to check the box that they have training in place for 100% of staff as a defense against activists complaints so it can’t threaten the business this quarter. Short termism.

    The progressives have gone from equal opportunity to equal outcomes which is basically socialism/communism - there are way too-many variables to just point at racism as the reason for unequal outcomes - if one just goes "by numbers" then one would have to say that the NBA, NFL, and Track-and-Field, are also racist since they are not only dominated by one race, but a minority race at that - obviously the point is not that these sports are racist, the point is there are variables/reasons as to the differences in participation/success in different fields/arenas - before big-tech went all in w/ wokeness they used to be criticized for the minute level of blacks in big-tech/silicon-valley - of course now that big-tech worships at the alter of wokeness they are getting a bit of a pass on this and not being called-out as they used to in the past - but at the end of the day there are reasons why blacks are under-represented in big-tech and it's unlikely due to racism.

    @Gamagamanu95 — if the only place this article appeared was the Washington Examiner, I’d search for additional references before totally believing it as fact. The Examiner has a definite and strong agenda and its stories are frequently more “opinion/editorial” like than truth.

    There is no solid proof any of this even happened, as evidenced by the lack of direct quotes, from specific named sources, and the key word to all of this... "alleged" is used to cover the publishers butt. Remember when it was The Libs that were so easily triggered, and butt hurt? Also, the outfit that posted this is not exactly playing it down the middle. The daily Wire is a right Wing Rag at best. To their credit, they do not pretend to be anything else than that.
