I know it was wrong - the black lists and McCarthyism. But, back then folks were ashamed to be communists. If they were sympathetic to the communists - they should have been ashamed. Terrorist sympathizers should now be ashamed and they should not be part of our government.
How do you even quantify racism? Everyone is born to fear and distrust people that are different. It is a primal survival instinct. Some tribes have mixed races and some are inbred as fuck.

Idk but isn’t the us still way more diverse than uk? It’s natural to be a little fearful or even awkward when encountering something foreign. Awkward counts as racist in the us now. My experience is that the more homogeneous, the more racist. Whether small town az, philly, nyc, tx, or various European and south American countries. Maybe I’m wrong but it describes China and Japan. Ever look at immigration laws in Japan? Basically all other races are only allowed work visas for long term residence. We have issues but our issues would be impossible to have when your country is 99% homogeneous. China is literally putting Muslims in camps.
