Is it just a stereotype? Why are all whales (the metaphor), fat?

The term "whale" started on Wall Street in the old days. A guy who had tons of money and was willing to invest. They're not all fat, just rich. Well, maybe at strip clubs they're fat.

Rich handsome fit dudes are banging hotter for free than the others have to pay to grope is my guess

I think the metaphor is less about being fat and more about being the biggest "fish" in the ocean.

There’s plenty of lower bmi men who are willing to drop 4 figures in a night. I don’t get the stereotype

Guys who like to call big spenders fat, are the same who call SC goers old. They're insecure. Typically successful folk work long hours and/or stressful, something that requires a degree of health to sustain.

@Mr Orange I thought that the slang term "Whale" originated in the casinos of Las Vegas
Here's the definition reprinted from The New Urban Dictionary
"The term "Whale" is borrowed from the casino industry, where it is used to describe a rich gambler who bets extraordinarily large amounts of money. Just like in the game industry, casinos want to "catch" the most high-betting whales, because they provide a lot of income for comparably little expense."

I think the size refers to his wallet.

I thought ATM’s were more of a PC term for them.
