Hey 19....young strippers and old music

So I was at a club tonight for a lackluster pre-Fourth turnout, both of customers and dancers. But a very unusual thing happened.

A young mixed-race spinner joined me at the table. Due to the casual pace, we actually had a lot of conversation before any discussion of dances came up. It was actually just the start of the night shift line-up and no dancers were on stage for an extended number of songs. The DJ was playing a run of classic rock and heavy metal tunes. Somewhere in there, the dancer asked if I'd like a dance and I said yes. But she kept waiting and waiting to start. Finally she told me she didn't know when one song ended and the next started. Plus, she didn't like the vibe most of the songs were giving to dance to. I ended up tutoring her on some classic Led Zepplin, Metalica and other tunes.

It was a nice change of pace in knowing what's going on with the music compared to being clueless as to contemporary tunes that I have no idea when one song starts and the next ends. She also put me in charge of counting the songs once she started dancing!

You know, you get one of these moments for about every 40 ROBs you encounter!!!!

Big difference between Zep and 'tallica in terms of generation to me. Zep to me is old and outdated, 'tallica to me is old but still cool. Of course thats obviously a result of my particular age. I have to regularly remind myself that even 90s alternative is now two generations out of date. Sucks, but reality bites these days. It is what it is as we used to say in some era I can't remember exactly.
