OT- Cartels enforcing lockdown

Culiacan, MX is the marijuana capital of Mexico but it wasn't always too violent. Back in the 70"s my best friend and I were returning from a 2 week vacation in Mexico that included driving the Baja peninsula before they built the road in a "55 VW dune buggy. From La Paz we took a Ferry to Mazatlan and drove down to Acapulco.

On the way home we spent the night in Culiacan and hit the red light zone. We were the only gringos in the place we hit. My buddy got to talking with a couple of locals and wound up taking them for a ride in the dune buggy. When he got back he told me that it would be a good idea for us to leave. The Mexicans wanted to buy the dune buggy and were offering $500 in cash and $500 worth of marijuana and he was afraid to tell them no. So we got the hell out of there. I did manage to get laid before we left.
