That's not what the college system is teaching these days. The education system now is trying to go after the founders.
Are you aware though that there's a passage in the declaration of independence that attacks slavery? Most of the founders disliked slavery but simply did not believe in their time in history that it could be stopped. The declaration of independence however was actually worded specifically so that abolitionists in the future could use it to fight against slavery.
