Rock Hudson was b/f my time although I'd heard of the name as a kid - Hudson mostly got on my radar when he contracted AIDS in the 80s
After WWII there was a real push to get women out of the defense industries and back into the kitchen. Sex symbols were repackaged as family values icons.
It was a betrayal of the victory won on the battlefield.
