  I'm a lefty but have always slapped-the-monkey w/ my right-hand - a few years ago I had surgery for a torn bicep-tendon and my right-arm/slapping-hand was immobilized for a few-months while it healed - could never get used to slapping it w/ my dominant left-hand and didn't feel the same.
