Our biosphere is being sacrificed so that rich people in countries like mine can live in luxury. It is the sufferings of the many which pay for the luxuries of the few.”

That's basically the direction the world has moved in since the disintegration of the USSR. Without a major power putting the US in check, its basically become a thug for its plutocrats.

Nicespice, you need to make your mind up about who you accuse of being Dougster. Seems you accuse anyone you dislike of being him.

Txtittyfag, I'm not sure what's so stupid about stating that exploitation of the planet's resources so that a few can become super rich due to their commodification, is ruining the planet and thus threatening civilization as we know it. Its a fact that the US and NATO are the muscle behind said plutocratc/oligarchs/corporations. Unless you're denying global warming and wars for control of natural resources that the US and NATO nations are engaged in.

Icey, if you really believe that the US is such a terrible place, then leave. I hear Afghanistan is nice.

    @warrior

Ahahaha. Last week I was hanging out with somebody, who I otherwise like. But somehow North Korea authoritarian’s government got brought up and she had the nerve to come back with the quip “just like life for black people in America”

Me: well good thing black people are able to leave the country then. And the government doesn’t kill family members for escaping.

Which she nodded and then went right back into BLM talking points. Good lord I’m starting to loose patience for woke people. I may need a fruit cup soon (albeit one spiked with the loser leaf)

Afghanistan used to be nice, when they had a progressive government that was toppled by US brokered Islamist groups which gave rise to Al Qaeda and the Taliban...

Warrior, why do you believe that the US population should be limited to right wingers who tote the extreme right of the Republican Party line?

"COP24, the speech by 15-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg"

Seriously, what could a 15 year old know about the actual science behind supposed climate change besides what she was indoctrinated with?
She sounds like the perfect youngster for our resident no facts just fling it on the wall and see what sticks disciple rumdummoron to emulate. Maybe he'll tell us she voted for Goldwater. Who knows, they're both emotional impressionable young girls, they may end up being kindred spirits and sharing pics of their favorite Barbie fashions.

Major advancements in science and industry are typically rewarded financially, pulling those innovators into the 1%. Many of them, like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, then donate their money to good causes, like wiping out AIDS in Africa.

Major advancements in pot smoking and TV watching are typically done by the bottom 1%.

Now, travel to some third world countries and tell me whether wealth causes environmental harm or solves it. I’ll wait.

Wealth causes environmental harm. Those in the US and Europe consume far more resources than those in the third world do.

Also, because we continue to create an underclass, being told that they are defective, pot smoling and TV watching remain real strong. We create our own bottom.

Gates and Buffett are committed to destroying our public schools, with their money. I have already had to work politically to counter them.

People like Gates and Buffett profit, but most of the key inventions are always made by others, mostly those getting nothing more than a pay check.

Technological advances can be good. But we have to use that good to benefit everyone, because it always destroys jobs, and deskills jobs. And this corrective has to come from the public sector. We could be living in a paradise, in fact we are racing to become a third world country ourselves.

Like Buckminster Fuller explained, because of industrial advances we already produce enough for every single person to be living better than royalty did in past centuries.

Now true, much of this press for industrial advancement has been to make better ways of killing people. as he calls it, killingry.

But then in peace time there are developments in livingry.

This is the real wealth, not dollars, but life support, the things we need to live on Space Ship Earth.

We already produce enough. And you have to choose, do you want to make Dollars, or do you want to make Sense?

We spoil everything because we demand that everyone prove that they can 'earn a living'.

you can't measure real wealth by how well the wealthiest in a country are doing. you have to look at how much of the GDP is debt, economic inequality, wages, prices, actual inflation on food, etc Americans are generally not wealthy.... and its idiotic to compare us to the third world. Notice how we're always told we're better off than the people in Ethiopia, or Haiti or Zimbabwe... We never get to see our lives compared to those of the average person in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden...Switzerland... and there's a very real reason our corporate owned media never gives us such an image....
