I'll be 77 yo in a couple of weeks. So you an count me. They were black & white, poor quality and hard to come by. We called them stag films. When we got our hands on a couple usually by borrowing, we would rent a projector, pull down the window shades and show then on a bare wall. Of course they were silent too. :) Yeah! I'm not quite as old as shadowcat, but his experience sounds like my first exposure to a stag film -- black & white, no sound, 8 mm shown on a noisy projector. I was probably in 6th grade, and my buddy who was in 5th grade had this film which we showed on his bedroom wall. Not sure where he got it. Low quality and very tame by today's standards, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Pretty heady stuff for that day and age, and, as shadowcat said, very hard to come by, especially as a minor.

My next exposure to porn (on film) was on the day I turned 18, and another friend, who was 19, took me to a local movie theater to see my first XXX movie -- "The Stewardesses" which was not only in color, it was in 3D. What a trip.

Technically the early-80s adult channel called "On TV" - the signal was scrambled with a vertical-line across the middle of the screen, some movies one could make out better than others - if I remember correctly it was soft-porn stuff with the movies having a plot so you had to wait for the sex-scenes and I don't recall if they actually showed penetration.

In the mid-80s started watching hardcore stuff on VHS.

One time a friend and I "scored" some B&W 16mm films. We had access to a projector, so that wasn't an issue. Where to view was the problem. That was solved by going to another friend's home when his parents weren't there. He was all for watching except his older sister had a couple of girl friends over.

I don't recall the explanation we used for going out on their back porch and watching movies. Anyway, as we were watching we heard giggling. Seems the girls were snaking peeks. I guess the fairer sex can enjoy film art as well as guys might. :)

Maye I spoke incorrectly. Many "back porches" in south Florida back in those days were just like any other enclosed room, but with lots of windows for ventilation. Close the curtains or whatever, and no one sees.
