American crew is a decent brand that’s probably sold at Kroger. The Defining Paste is likely pretty similar to what you’d get from consort, medium hold and low shine, but they have a range of other options too. If you have longer hair then something more similar to soul glo with light hold and high shine would be a better option.

With the pastes and pomades, take a small amount of the product, emulsify in your hands and apply evenly from root to tip.

I use air. Cheap and effective. I've heard pussy juice can work too. :)

Try using a paste. It will hold your hair without making it crunchy
