Dancing Nude to PG-13/Censored Music and Disney Songs

wiffle shwaffle
I went back to my other club this past weekend after almost two months away and there's a new DJ system as well as other new changes (firing of long time staff for dumb shit).

The club is a corporate run club.

Anywayyy, the new dj system has us put in our names and select songs to add to our "file". It will randomly select from that file when we go up, so we have no idea what the songs will be before going up. We still have a human dj, but he's basically just announcing and maintaining stage rotation for two stages since the dj system is set up for listing only one stage.

I really wanted to dance to "Whore" by In This Moment and a popular rap song "King's Dead".

Can somebody here please help me understand the logic behind why the fuck I'm baring my vagina to an 18+ crowd and being butt ass naked on stage, but the music is basically PG-13?! The dj system only contains "pre-approved" songs selected by corporate and they are all clean edits. Some are even live versions of songs. There are even fucking Disney songs in there. If there are too many swear words in the songs, such as the two I wanted to play, they just aren't available for us to choose.

*I'm not saying which club because I don't want to get into trouble, but most of you probably know.*

Oh, also, the volume in the vip area is down very, very low now so that you can hear those next to you talking. They did this so the staff counting dances can better hear what's going on in curtained rooms and to listen for dancers possibly overcharging. It was awkward dancing to almost silence in there.

Anyway, I just wanted to rant about the utter stupidity of why ever the fuck corporate decided this would add to the "party vibe" they now want depicted on the weekends.

Robot DJ's will become more common in the future. I went to one club like the one you described, only there was no human DJ announcing names and keeping the rotation. The robot had recorded introductions that would just insert the name of the dancer set to go up, then pick random songs out of her file. In the long run, it will probably save the clubs money, not having a human DJ. The only non-dancers working at the club were one bouncer and one bartender.

My guess is you dance at a Deja Vu/Hustler type of place.

I’ve never heard a Disney song, but I do find it amusing when a club will blur out a swear word.

@Waffle look at it this way - it takes a special and really hot stripper to pull off dancing to Disney. If a mermaid like you were stripping to 'Under the Sea', I would have no issue!

"Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea"

They should let dancers dance to whatever music they want. I don't personally care for most of the music that is popular in clubs now, but it's also pretty much irrelevant to me. All I care about is how the dancer looks. Yeah, pretty shallow, I know.

Many Portland clubs don't have a DJ booth. Just a digital jukebox that the strippers choose their own music from.

My pet peeve is when songs are censored. LOL not needed in a fucking strip club!

Censored music makes no sense at a strip club.

I think I know which club you’re talking about. I haven’t been there in over a year.

I’m assuming this “program” that runs the music is internet based and probably is the same system that is feeding the juke boxes across the country in places like a BW3 or Dave & Busters. They delete any offensive songs from their playlists. My friends and I were in a bar (21+) a few weeks ago and the song selection was so vanilla we couldn’t even find $5 worth of songs to play. These systems probably have to pay royalties to the song writers/producers so they probably pick out the cheapest songs.

I have always wondered why strip clubs have physical DJs. I think it has to do with music liscensing. Playing the music is considered a performance so the club is probably supposed to pay to play it. By contracting out to an independent DJ he can play music and get away with not paying the liscensing fees. But that is just a theory.

It would be cool if dancers had an app where they could see live where they are in the upcoming stage lineup. Even bid or pay to move up and down.

Censored music at a NUDE strip club is an oxymoron.
Somebody's stage set had some dumb shit from the Disney movi 'Frozen' and her second song was sone pitiful whiney country garbage. I considered walking out and going to my other club in downtown Detroit instead.
And yes, somebody guessed the club above.

"baring my vagina to an 18+ crowd and being butt ass naked on stage" = no alcohol and fully nude

has to be deja vu (probably Ypsi)
I never go there any more as the dancers have organized and all refuse to allow any touching unless you pay extra $20/song

But just think: dancers are no longer expected to tip the DJ!

I was in Washington Park and the club had porn playing in the background with an anal scene at the same time the dancer at my table told me the owner did not want poles on stage because it wasn’t classy. Still one of my favorite moments in clubbing.

We have had the robot dj for about 3 years.

I never have understood why it matters what specific songs play when you go on stage. It’s like going to Starbucks. It’s something you’re going to do often. It’s not going to be memorable, ever. If you don’t like what you get, it’s ok, it will probably turn out alright the next time.

Unless the “drink” is awful, doesn’t really matter too much.

Omg censored music in a strip club? That's so silly! How am I supposed to dance to awkwardly censored music?
