Part of my reason for starting this thread gets back to a discussion some years ago where I denounced the New International Bible, but then I read some of a newer edition and posted stuff to lighten up on it.
And yes, here they say, balance of word for word and thought for thought. It is designed by the Evangelicals to make it sound more literal and more prescriptive, so that it can be used to manipulate people.
So again I am angered by the NIV Bible.
