I think some of us just like to abuse the fast money and counteract the salary potential by taking an insane amount of time off (which is why I know I need an exit strategy but that is a whole other topic).
I just visited Glacier, Yellowstone, Teton, and Arches national parks along with some other places along the road. Then deciding that wasn't enough I visited family and friends on the west coast :)
I guess I must not be the most ambitious stripper on the planet, but I see we can die young for all kinds of reasons and not just being stupid with drugs etc...I also have worked a vanilla job in the past that was alright. Most people who were there at least a few years were making from $60-80k a yr with the occasional outliers. I think that really isn't bad for zero college zero experience required and tons of days off due to 12 rotating shifts. Anyways my point bringing up an old vanilla job- there are tons of people that retire at 65ish- then they die a few months later or a few years later. You have no guarantee to live forever. But you also need money. Finding a balance is hard and I guess it depends on priorities. I don't make a lot of money overall, but in some places I have done much better than expected because on the occasion I go to work I go all out to make sales and money happen.
Anyways I've noticed some comments on the drug addicted girls or girls with pimps or bipolar ass crazy ass bitches/ bitches with deadbeat loser boyfriends. I just wanted to comment there are a few halfway normal and functioning strippers.
Thank you.

last commentIn reality, most people would probably take more time off work if they could and there weren't serious repercussions, just seems dancers have more flexibility to do so.
e.g. there are people that have the flexibility to retire early and do so.

^people can retire early I just forgot to mention that lol as it is relatively less common

^@blahblahblah23, that was actually supposed TO BE the point when the gov't starting social security, etc. Before that, I read it was common that many people worked until the day they died. So I guess that's an improvement, though not much of one. :/
I do get what you're saying about life being a balance. On the micro scale, I try to do some of that every day instead of always "waiting for the weekend" otherwise time goes by in weeks instead of days. And quite frankly our time is too short. :)
I think more of us would take sabbaticals or time off, if we could, like Papi_Chulo posted. It's just that dancers seem to be able to do it more than the rest of us because of the nature of their job.

I believe in a strong work ethic, I also believe in balance, you can have both, as long as you have self discipline.
Problem here is these girls (not all but many) have a tendency to abuse the work ethic, and try to get others to make up the difference in balance.

"Strippers disappearing for long periods"
Isn't it extremely rare for a period to last more than 6 or 7 days?

It depends, a lot of times it means they're working a different club or different city. When they go on vacation, they waist all their money and come back to the club broke AF and desperate

@ nice I'd most likely bet the job you will get w/ the college degree will be nicer than stripping overall. Hell I might go back to school maybe although I will be a little on the older side as far as students go. Not sure yet. I don't really need college or stripping for what I consider ok money to live decently.

I worked a vanilla job for 15 years. Took no long vacations. Lived modestly. Saved my money. Retired comfortably at 40. Now, it’s one long vacation.
There are different paths to success and happiness.

Blah, it sounds like a great trip. Travel is fun and there's more to life than work.

One does not know whether they'll die at 35 so live-it-up, or die at 95 so save as much as you can - thus IMO the sensible thing is to play it down the middle - have some fun today but also work hard and save for the future.

Seems like the ones that I know that have taken time off, have done so to have kids and they come back looking like it.

I never took Friday classes (except maybe in a summer course), so I always could travel on the weekend to places that weren't very far away. I used to take the Megasbus there, preferably Thursday after classes, remember I gain an hour going to Chicago because I'm on Eastern Time, Illinois is C.T. So I'd get there at night, relax, and spend Friday & Sat there and head back Sunday afternoon, lose an hour, get home at a reasonable night time hour.
You can also travel during breaks. Even thxgiving break, but especially Winter break since it tends to be long, and Spring break. There's plenty of time to travel, and you can study or do classsork on the plane/bus/whatever your method of travel may be!

^^^^yes that's probably the smartest option :)

^ Yeah that seems like a good idea about no Friday classes if possible! I didn't think of that thanks. I was thinking of traveling during breaks if I did go back to school.
The homework thing is really the only thing I liked about public transit when I took it. I guess on a couple hour bus or train ride it's the same benefit lol

@blahblah True.
@nina I’m definitely considering this. The easiest thing for me would just be to go to Dallas (best city for income potential in the state anyways). But I also want to explore around more.
Luckily, for this semester, I’m only taking classes Monday and Wednesday. I’ve been browsing at what cities I can get flight deals from. And now that I’m 25 years old, I don’t have to deal with that extra fee for getting a rental car now. xD
Though I can’t just think about the plane ticket price, but also random events (conventions and the like) around the country that would help out with income potential. But I also want to do more leisure stuff too. Especially hiking.
I have a lot to think about there. And figure out what’s more important for strip tripping. But it’s exciting.
I would just feel bad for leaving my dog more often. But at least my roommate loves him a lot too, and he would be in good hands.

Np :) And yeah, I learned that from a guy I had gone to high school with who graduated high school a year before me... he advised me to avoid taking Friday classes, that it was a "freshman mistake," so I avoided them (to my knowledge. I didn't keep tabs, there may have one or two times when I had to take a Friday class because of scheduling, or summer. But I cannot remember ever taking a Friday class). So I always had a longer weekend.

Yeah nicespice - that's one reason I don't have a dog right now. I live on my own, and I'm away from home way too much for a dog. Cats are easier in that respect.

This country as a whole should embrace more traveling. It's certainly one of my favorite things to do.

I guess if one is in their 20s but plans to start a family at some point, then they should take advantage of that time to travel b/f they are too-busy w/ kids.

I agree with balance. There are no trailers attached to hearses but it sucks to be broke.
