I hope you are right SJG, this site is all we men have left and they gonna take even this away from us? Whats next shutting down the strip clubs for sexual harassment and indecent exposure lol
Seriously though, I'm surprised by the furry dating site going down. I assumed that it was a site for consenting people into the furry lifestyle to find each other, not a place where sex workers advertised.
I don't know how broadly FOSTA is written. I also suspect many people, including lawyers, don't know the limits on what is legal until they study the statute and people with deep pockets challenge the law. That will define its limits.
I suspect the furry dating site is just being cautious until clarity emerges. I would be shocked if somebody running a site for such a niche market has deep enough pockets to defend themselves. The logical thing might be to wait until clarity emerges and then reopen, staying within the legal limits.
The reality is that I have no sympathy for people making a profit off of truly coercive practices (human trafficking, ANYTHING with underage). Anybody who makes a profit off of that should be locked up. I worry that FOSTA is producing a chilling effect on things that are both legal and non-exploitative. Hopefully that won't extend here. Strip clubs are legal after all, and none of the crazy stories that appear on here appear aimed at advertising. Plus, many are probably bullshit bragging. Brilliantly funny bullshit, but bullshit nonetheless.
Sorry to get serious for a minute. Back to my goofy self!
