Follies has raised it's mandatory valet from $5 to $10 after 3pm these days.
I don't like other people in my car.
If you get to the club right at open (11:30am to around 12:30pm) the valet guys aren't there yet....but neither are the girls.
Also what's the deal with that old guy bathroom attendant?
why am i tipping someone else for me to turn on the water, wash my own hands, and grab my own paper towel?

Yes, Follies has a cash cow in their parking lot and they've started leveraging it. I lump it with the overall price to get in. Some places offer free parking, but higher entry (like $20 all day in CA). Others split it. At least Follies is still free entry weekdays 'til 7p.

And the bathroom troll? A buck in the jar is no big deal and the guy does put out some stuff like mint, towels, soap, etc. Again, part of the revenue stream for the place. They could charge more for drinks and skip the troll I suppose, but both the troll and the parking are voluntary, so both are better than a mandatory high-entry charge, charging more for dances (which have been $10 for twenty years now) or increasing their VIP room-portion rates, which at $52 are the cheapest anywhere.

They constantly get huge crowds thus one can assume they have the leverage - and perhaps it's kinda "crowd control" as to maybe dissuade the non-spenders from taking up space (but I doubt that's the reason)

Talking about huge crowds at Follies. I was there today and at 2 PM one of the 2 bouncers came around to my corner and told me and my dancer to finish our dances in the big VIP room because they had a big group of big money customers coming in to take up that whole area. Well since I was getting a free VIP room, I did what VIP rooms are for. When I came out I noticed that there were a dozen or so new faces sitting in the area that I had been using.

I put the high top "VIP" tables at Oasis in this money for nothing category. Unless it's a bartender, my goal is to give the least amount of money to men in a strip club as possible, so I don't like having to tip bouncers to get access to better tables.

The original poster mentions the valet is mandatory. I always thought it was optional and there was free parking nearby. Any locals care to clarify?

I think its a mix of milking the cash cow and crowd control. Next drink prices will go up and then vip prices. Even still and witth less white girls, you guys have incredible value for the mileage on those $10 floor dances.

You can park across the street in the shopping center and walk over to Follies. But WTF? This is probably the highest value strip club in the country. I couldn’t care less if I have to pay a few bucks to park.

But think of your upcoming coronary event, JS69. You are in the age group that is prone to them. The walk across the street from the shopping center is hazardous to be sure. Traffic can be fairly busy at times at rush hour, but the exercise will do us all good, and screw the bottom line at Follies. :)

It's not the cost that bothers me. I just don't like giving my keys to some young kid that I don't know or trust. Several months ago the club had a meeting with all of their valets after one of them let a drunk drive off with another customer's car. I did let them park my 2011 Mustang GT when it was still fairly new and observed him bring it to me in a reckless manor/speed for a parking lot.

Yes. You can park across the street but be aware there are signs posted and you can get your car booted. Especially after 9PM when the stores are closed, It happened to a TUSCL buddy of mine and it cost him all the money he had left ($70) to get the security guy to let him off.

A lot of guys park in the Pep Boys lot just next door. I'm not sure how the owner/manager feel about that. I have heard that at night they are charging to park there. At least you keep control of your keys.

Because of the huge crowds at Follies, shadowcat has mentioned in the past that valet is necessary in order to manage the big # of cars, thus mandatory valet day and night.

Many Follies regulars park at the Pep Boys next door which has a large lot (someone once posted that Follies owns the land the Pep Boys is on and why Follies' custies could park there with no issue but who knows for sure if that is true) - at night there is often a Follies employee in the Pep Boys lot charging for parking.

There is a shopping center across the street that many Follies' custies use to park, it has been reported in the past though that some custies got their car booted for parking there after the shopping center was closed for the night (past 10 pm).

I thought the OP was going to say “and your chicks for free.”

Like Follies had a Christmas special going or something.

My old car isn't worth paying a valet.I don't think they will do any damage to it. I never have gone to Follies at night. The exercise walking across the street is minimal and it's good for me.
