MARYSVILLE, Calif. — A local strip club has raised over $2,000 for two deputies who were wounded in a shooting on a Rastafarian church’s marijuana farm last month.

On Saturday, the City Limits Showgirls held a topless carwash on the club’s property to raise money for the Yuba County deputies, KCRA reported. They were hidden underneath a large tent.

Last month, deputies responded to reports of an agitated man pulling up plants on a Rastafarian church’s marijuana farm, the Associated Press reported. The deputies were given permission to search a home after the suspect fled. The gunman opened fire on the deputies who went inside. The suspect died in the standoff. The deputies were airlifted to the hospital where they underwent surgery and are recovering.

The club operations manager said they raised $2,565 for the officers. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that they are not affiliated with the fundraiser, but appreciate the sentiment of support.

They'd raise more than $2,500 if they turned that tent into a VIP section in addition to topless car washing.

Did anyone pick up on the fact that the church was growing marijuana?

Warhawks is correct - they would have raised a lot more if they turned the tent into a VIP spot!

Although maybe they did? Wax on - wax off...

@ shadowcat, my thoughts were that the marijuana was the motivation for the fund raising event. The girls wanted to atone for the bad guys hurting the cops, plus good karma all around.
