OT: Memorial Day

During worship yesterday, the pastor asked the veterans to stand so they could be honored and thanked for their service (although Veteran's Day in November, while Memorial Day is to honor the fallen). The choir then led the congregation in "My Country 'Tis of Thee". I don't think anyone knew all the words. Afterwards, I commented to my wife that "God Bless America" would have been more appropriate during a worship service.
It made me remember, after 9/11, where everyone was "spontaneously" singing "God Bless America"; and many other commented that the national anthem "Star-Spangled Banner" had been pushed aside.
When it comes to these four patriotic songs, opinion must be widely varied. SJWs like some on this board likely abhor "God Bless America" for invoking the Judeo-Christian deity while other pussies will say that "The Star-Spangled Banner" is too martial and invokes conflict. As a traditionalist, I prefer the recognized National Anthem to honor our nation.

If the parishioners are worshiping in peace, then they should honor vets every time they kneel to pray. There's nothing unseemly about doing so the day before Memorial Day.
