Go to 20:14.

This song was written by Harry Nilsson before he got famous, He auditions it on acoustic, by himself, and Kirshner liked it...but they changed the vibe from a bitter reaction to rejection by calling her a whore, to a vaudeville act. Not the Monkees best (Nilsson's version is much more dark and deep) but the censors were obviously not paying attention.

Nilsson version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyU26Rhi…

"Cuddly Toy"

La la la la ...

You're not only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy
You're not the only choo-choo train that was left out in the rain
The day after Santa came
You're not the only cherry delight that was left out in the night
And gave up without a fight
You're not the only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy

You're not the kind of girl to tell your mother
The kind of company you keep
I never told you not to love no other
You must of dreamed it in your sleep

You're not only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy
You're not the only choo-choo train that was left out in the rain
The day after Santa came
You're not the only cherry delight that was left out in the night
And gave up without a fight
You're not the only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy

You're not the kind of girl to tell your mother
The kind of company you keep
I never told you not to love no other
You must of dreamed it in your sleep

You're not only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy
You're not the only choo-choo train that was left out in the rain
The day after Santa came
You're not the only cherry delight that was left out in the night
And gave up without a fight
You're not the only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy

La la la la ...

I haven't heard that song in a long time, couldn't help but sing it in my head as I read the lyrics.

Marcia Brady and I are big Monkeys fans.

I'm not shy about being a Monkees fan either...although I prefer more of a metal approach.

I've always liked the Monkees we've discussed this before though.

The Monkeys were great. A variety of music is great. One weekend many years ago we saw ABBA on a Friday night and then The Ramones in a bar the following night. Even saw Kiss back up Black Sabbath.
