watching cnn now as they are covering an explosion that happened hours ago. earlier in the day my bro and i were talking about in several years moving there. after this, as well as events from 15 years ago maybe not such a great idea.

MANHATTAN NY EXPLOSION

I'm not sure this (or 9/11) would factor into a decision regarding a move to Manhattan. It is still very safe for a large city in the US. There are plenty of smaller places where you're likelihood of being caught in a crime is statistically higher.
I'd be much more concerned about commute times and good housing.
