^^^^ yes they were popular in the 80s and popular in Europe too. They were made out of nylon and thin, just like a parachutes fabric, hence the name. They were also baggy and loose fitting flowing similar to a parachute. They usually had elastic waistbands and elastic at the bottle around the ankles.
I wore them when I was in grade school.
Remember? I despised them.
