Proxy Servers

We don't appreciate how good Founder is often enough. On some types of sites, if you don't agree, then you get banished.
I have especially seen this as true if you are posting anything against psychotherapy or psychiatric medication. People try to turn it into prejudice against them. and then you get banished.
So I see two reasons for proxy servers.
-
To be able to get back into negative places to get intelligence on what they are doing.
-
To be able to screen what is coming onto your computer, taking off things like headers, names, and banner ads, as in some places it is dangerous. Need to cut it down to just text, or there will be problems.
Hide My Ass is one often referenced, but there are others.
You folks have any ideas?

Seems to work. It might be removing the banner ads. Those ads could cause trouble in some situations!

Not sure if it works.
I have much to learn.
Rech, right now I am just experimenting to see what works and what doesn't. But in general, in some environments there is policing on what goes over the Internet. The banner ads are one thing which could get one in trouble.

Based on your somewhat sociopathic posts, I could see why you would want to hide your whereabouts
Log in to vote
did you hear about the strip club waitress that tried to use a proxy server?
She got fired
The hiding can work both ways. It could be to keep admins from knowing where one is. But it could also just be to get back into a place one has been banished from. When you get into what I call "National Public Radio Sensibility" places, and especially anything which is pro psych meds, pro psycho therapy, or pro Recovery Movement, getting banished is likely.
And then the Proxy Server can also be just to protect ones self from getting into trouble with in house cyber cops.
The Internet promotes sociopathy, and I enjoy this aspect of it almost has much as mikeya02 obviously does.

So I try this one, but I don't select encryption. I do ask it to allow cookies. But it does not seem to pass thru my TUSCL log in.
So I try to log in and it seems to work. Banner ads are gone, but not sure if that would prevent in house cyber cops from seeing them. But at least they don't show on the screen.
The Internet is a place where all content boundaries are blurred. Some people don't like this.

The one I used, or am using for this post, is the one above. Not sure how long these places last. But some of them probably use the same software.
In times past I've explored these and most of them are not good enough that you could log into email on Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail. Those systems have good proxy detection.
BUT, DO NOT USE THESE TO DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL! They will find ways to catch you if you try. This is not that sophisticated of a protection.
All this is for is to fuck some people who run recovery and therapy oriented forums, and to fuck in house cyber cops and over the shoulder cops.

If one is blocking objects, like to keep the banner ads off the screen, then other objects like the "Sort Discussions" don't work. Don't know how to contend with this.
Little by little though, I'll figure it all out and get the best safety possible.

Oh if you want a link on YouTube to stay unrestricted, do not post it here or someone will definitely flag it being an assshole, or mother figure. I posted links to a girl doing how to plumbing videos and she happened to look good and was wearing shorts. It had been on YouTube for months unrestricted. Immediately after posting the link here, someone immediately flagged it as over 18 required. Someone was an asshole for flagging it and restricting it. The girl was wearing shorts while doing a how to plumbing video. Kids under 18 see girls wearing shorts every summer. no big deal except on YouTube and the asshole who flagged it and restricted it.

ok, I'm not working somewhere that personal devices use any work network or resources. They aren't about to provide me a smart phone either. I joined a unique 1% group by not having a smart phone yet for my age and income group.
That would suck to be monitored by the company so much. My company just gives me so much work, they just expect it to all get done even if you need to work longer hours.

Lots of people don't understand that the Internet has no real rules. They think there is "normal stuff" and the that evil "porn" and the evil people who watch it.
TUSCL has some banner ads that sends some people berserk.
For myself, my attitude is, rather than watching it, make some yourself.
But most people don't see it this way.
Remember how it came out that Walmart was running software which measured how much of an image was in the fleshtone range, so that it could spy on what was going through there computers, see if anyone was looking at Porn?

@sharkhunter funny you should mention not having a smartphone. I don't have one either and I'm always questioned about the why. I'm not sure if it's uncool or a look of a poor man for me to be my age and not have a smartphone. I live in NYC so I don't need a car, but get looked at funny when I pull out my brick phone. Not sure why you want to hide your "real" IP from TUSCL, but proxy is probably not the best way to do it.
VPN may work better for what you want to do and can make your computer appear to be in a wide variety of locations around the world. Make sure you use a VPN service that does not keep connection logs.
Going one step further in security, look into browsing via Tor. You won't be able to control where your computer appears to be, but it's extremely difficult to backtrack. Tor compliant browsers are available for all major operating systems.
Finally, if you're just trying to hide the fact that you're looking at TUSCL from someone who has access to your physical computer, use the incognito mode built into most browsers.

don't go on tor for something like TUSCL, then you put the entire website under scrutiny by the FBI....and a lot of you say some things that see questionable even if everything written on this site should be considered a work of fiction.

"Not sure why you want to hide your "real" IP from TUSCL"
I don't usually hide myself from TUSCL. I've been on this for over 18 months. Hiding from a site is only one reason for a proxy server. The other is to fuck local cyber police and over the shoulder police. I'm in a variety of situations, and in some this is desirable, and in some even necessary. There are lots of people in our society who have some fucked up attitudes and expect everything to stay with in the National Public Radio content rules.
Yes, VPN sounds interesting. But I don't really know how it works. Need to learn.
TOR is supposed to work. But again, I'm not trying to hide from Founder, just from local jerks. And actually what I've read about TOR is that it has the opposite of it's intended effect, as most of the routers are fun by the intelligence community, and so using TOR draws more scrutiny. If they really record everything which goes in or out and then save it for future analysis, then TOR fails completely. I do though want to learn more about it. Maybe we need more people to run TOR routers.
I think Founder designed this right. The banner ads are provocative, but as they are objects, a Proxy Server can nix them. And then getting rid of large pictures fucks the over the shoulder police. Encryption stops the cyber police with everything. Thank you Founder for showing such good sense and smarts.
But right now my Proxy Server has messed up, so I am connected bare again.
Incognito mode in browsers? Yes I need to learn about this!
And yes of course, this is all a work of fiction.

All I am saying is that by using these proxy servers and their encryption capabilities and the fact that they strip off page names, URL's, pictures, and the banner ads, that I can now be on TUSCL in some sensitive situations where I could not before.
Hiding my IP address from Founder is of course not important to me. And I know that hiding anything from the NSA is impossible.

I am actually using proxy servers for more and more stuff.
They don't work if you want to login to Google, Yahoo, or Hotmail. I think the reason for this is that these services regularly try out the all the listed proxies on the same sorts of lists I am using, and then record their IP addresses. I don't think they can actually detect the fact that it is a proxy.
But anyway, consider that you and a GF/ATF each had TUSCL accounts and wanted to post. You could probably each login, one bare and one via a proxy server, using the same computer. I think cookies will be kept separate, for at least the ones using some of the available software's. So you could each take turns posting and replying to people.

Proxy Servers can make it safe to use TUSCL in places where one does not have complete physical or internet privacy. But I'm not trying to hide from Founder or the Dept of Homeland Security. Wouldn't ever try to use it to do anything illegal either.
Some people have found that TUSCL is on a block list at some businesses like hotels and restaurants which offer WIFI. Proxy should get them around that.
